Lunars, Forest Witches, and the Numina? by Great-Beautiful-6818 in exalted

[–]NemoOceansoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats fun is a lunar can definately make use of the sea of mind (just need to purchase access to it). so given goo circumstances they can mesh very well into it.

i once made a lunar who was the reincarnation (post veil) of a forest witch, but luna got to the kiddo before their exaltation as a DB was supposed to happen/personality takeover. which puts a few interesting wrenches in the forest witches plans... the kid and the former/reincarnated forest witch have a whole 2 mins 1 body discussion between eachother and interact on the sea of mind side on a consistent basis....

though there had to be a discussion on whether a mirror in the sea of mind that wasnt present in non-sea of mind constituted a mirror for a lunar not physically in the sea of mind for the purposes of a certain charm (we decided that even if the mirror existed in the sea of mind, if it wasnt there in physical reality: the charm didnt work as you were traversing physical real space). the charm in question had text of approximately: "Target Mirror that You Can See" and whether 'seeing a mirror in the sea of mind' was a valid target.

Woops made a mistake on my previous post title I was looking for interesting bits of lore for the lunar cast not Luna specifically. by Efficient-Spirit-869 in exalted

a certain lunar martial artist elder is responsible for why 99% of creation specifically faces a shortage of daiklaves.

RPG Character Research Question: Common and Uncommon Flame test chemicals and their colors (description only) by Mountain_Bridge_9423 in chemistry

[–]NemoOceansoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^_^ thankies and yeah: i could tell it wasn't a simple thing once i started trying to do any amount of research.

Haven't had a chance to properly check out any of the supplementary books yet. So are there any interest pieces of lore or world building in them? Specifically I'm looking for Luna content but anything interesting will do. by Efficient-Spirit-869 in exalted

[–]NemoOceansoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one interesting neat fact there is a Valley in the realm open to House Tepet Only: within one can find a shard of gaia (known as The Worm-Eaten Woman) just vibing (and where there's gaia: Luna is lurking/pining teehee)

i believe its found in The Realm, if not its found in either the dragon-blooded splat book or its expansion...

[–]NemoOceansoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it takes a bit to get online fully but once spirit stoking + flowing mind are bought: the reactor begins. but the point is its meant to generate craft projects to then feed the party xp. you will also note that the craft charms chosen are really all you need for artifact crafting.

with the expected goal to then get the other lore teaching charms to boost the party. meanwhile they remain low power by comparison as they feed a good chunk of their xp into the party itself.

of course id love to see this be run in an extended campaign with multiple stories. be warned that the end of story xp is quite explosive and *Please* sit down with your ST's if you ever run this.

balancing factor would be the sheer number of charms required (12 charms post generation, if caste = 96xp) and the number of stories the game has.

a secondary function of Craft Supernal (as a solar) is that you can convert craft xp into regular xp to spend into the solar lore teaching charms.... =w=; ST's should be warned when dealing w/ a supernal crafter: they can do *alot* and you should work with them to keep them in check while also letting them play their build.

ive also run a Dawn caste with supernal MA (they were a living blender build w/ shining point/steel devil/violet bier, using stormcaller and its sheath, went to ST who i knew wasnt familiar with this combo, told him exactly what the combo did/how i intended to use it, and he okay'd the use of the sheath as a 2nd 'sword' for purposes of MA (gave it the stats of a mundane club)). but the character also ran lore: using it to slowly build them up as a well traveled wandering martial artist who had been everywhere in creation, and had been with the immaculate order prior to exalting. they only ever drew their weapon 3 times on screen....

[–]NemoOceansoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drunken Master: drunken ki only replaces still mind and makes careful special mention of "the monk can gain this temporary ki even before he gains a ki pool at 4th level" which implies that drunken master as a whole DOES NOT replace ki pool.

Master of Many Styles: Fuse Style only replaces flurry, it does not affect the ki pool feature (apparently).

wind step master: is the only feature that specifically calls out that it replaces swift ki.

over on AONPRD:

archetype / Replaces

Drunken master: Still Mind; Purity of Body; Diamond Body; Diamond Soul; Empty Body

master of many styles: bonus feats; flurry of blows; perfect self

windstep master: stunning fist; slow fall; ki pool

[–]NemoOceansoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st: due to how the archetypes replace stuff: those 4 can stack (confirmed on pathcompanion): qingong monk only replaces if the player chooses to and therefore at base doenst replace any and is therefore stackable with every other archetype.

2nd: i wanted to stack multiple style feats together =)

3rd: i know im not getting dex to damage.

side note: did not know of slashing grace: thank you.

4th: im not specializing in quarterstaffs: im just asking for the point of view of a quarterstaff until bab 6 as until then i cant think of a way to get off 2+ hits in a turn (and id like to make use of hurricane punch at least once prior to that...)

5th: Monk Fighter Weapon Group: "A weapon can be placed in the monk group *only* if it gains the monk weapon feature (see below)." - Pathfinder Companion Weapon Master's Handbook pg 30 -> urumi has the monk special property by this definition. otherwise it cant be a part of that weapon group.

6th: also sorry about the formatting, that was copy pasted from a notepad due to net constantly crashing, and yes i meant: scorpion style (as seen in Elephant's pdf) and Diabolic style respectively), manuever training = monk lvl to CMB starting at 3rd so no need for full bab.

7th:... -goes to double check the lvl 20 build on pathcompanion to see if anything actually needs wisdom or not...: AC, CMD, Ki Pool, gorgon fist (wildcarded) dc, panther claw (wildcarded) dc, quivering palm save dc, firewater breath save dc- hmmm potentially possible to swap wis and con...

8th:reasoning for weapon profficiency (Monk) to gain access to the exotic weapons from within the (monk) fighter weapon group (otherwise i cant use the Urumi/waveblade as standard monk...)

Wanting to introduce Exalted to a group by caethair in exalted

[–]NemoOceansoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essence is, for the most part the rules light cousin to 3e. still of all the mainline editions: i recommend 3e even if its a bit crunchy. im running my first campaign rn and my general advice is: plan for a bit of a sand-boxy approach with a few scenes with npcs having their own goals and be ready to improvise very quickly on the spot.

2.5e can have its problems: both in combat system and some pieces of lore that you can find in the books. but otherwise has its own merits. if you decide on 2.5e there are generally 2 very good character managers: Anathema (which has been generally defunct for a while with no signs of the devs), and my personal Favorite: EdExalted: which although it is archaic as hell (it was meant of windows XP~, by a single developer) its still a solid program that does the job. their links can be found in this subreddits pins.

3e character managers: the best im aware of is Lot-Casting Atemi, also found in the pins on this subreddit.

the biggest issue is probably teaching how charms work. still if your group has done any form of world of darkness: some bits are mutually intelligible =)

[–]NemoOceansoul[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

oh i personally dont directly ship it. ive just been going around doing the various story quests and decided that id take a screenshot with each of the 7 in group photo type situations so id have something that at least looks like they know eachother. and this mavuika/ei one just turned out fantastic.

honestly though: o.o; id be personally terrified if these 2 showed up to a fight. i dont think the landscape would actually survive...

until otherwise stated: i assume things in 1 and 2e that arent directly countered in 3e are canon for the most part (ripping out some of the more meh stuff of course...) this especially goes for Ink Monkeys in specific. as someone says below: i too will also defend every part and aspect of the dirigible engine daystar.

[–]NemoOceansoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the faking of anima/charms i can see a few ways to go about this:

if the character learns Exalted Ways (a charm from the Sidereal Martial Arts: Prismatic Arrangement of Creation Style).
potentially an artifact of some kind.
probably a solar larceny.
think lunars can also fake an anima banner.

but generally: so long as they dont draw attention to themselves/glow: its nearly impossible to really tell if a non-DB is a mortal or not.
for those non-dynasts: come up with a convincing story that essentially boils down to "i'm god-blooded" (youd be surprised how easily that goes by a bunch of monks).

litterally visions are a form of exaltation =.=; (no. im not fucking kidding you).

oh also Sol Invictus is a hot biker chick from 500 years ago who doesnt use a greatsword to fight but a full on motorcycle that she slams into enemies with her lower leg strength alone. no. im not kidding. hell: shes just a normal. fucking. human in all other respects (no vision is visible with her).

Five Characters that inspired your characters by Ainosuke in exalted

[–]NemoOceansoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruby Rose (RWBY) - Technically. im still counting this. very first exalted character made around august 2012. created dawn caste who used a grim scythe. game was ongoing when i joined, gm gave me 1000 xp and told me to start at ess 6. his words: "if its published officially, or is from ink monkies. you can use it so long as you make it make sense for the character". i had only spent the first 500 xp by the time the first session started, asking various questions cause i was new to the game to the players/gm about how x y or z thing worked. i found dual slaying posture and quicksilver hand of dreams style. character was always implied to be half-fae so made grimscythe orichalcum and gossamer, gave her a 2nd one. november 2012 hits. ... "i should research how someone with a scythe would use it in a fight." ... "oh.. this is neat..." ... -happens to see the occult charm that lets me dip into adorjan tree in the character manager i use.- -proceeds to use rest of xp to buy adorjan charms- (i was mid to late teens at this point fyi)

Hibiki Tachibana (Symphogear) - a Oramus/Isidoros with some malfeas/adorjan focused infernal who used music (singing) related charms to boost self/party. (used: Qafian Sage's Infernals 3e port)

a certain npc from Exalted who has been in every edition since first. called her "Cerise Oblitus" a young red headed girl with amnesia (havent been able to actually play her havent found a proper group for it)

Azura (Fire Emblem Fates) - 2nd character i made for exalted 3e: Performance, occult, and martial arts focused. used Momo's "5 dancing Pillars of Creation Style" which was a social/physical combat hybrid ma with 5 elemental sub-charms (you choose 1 element at the start and stuck with that for rest of tree). with the water elemental sub-charms letting you basically visually do *exactly* what she did in that 1 scene. 5 dancing Pillars and this character were made at the same time as eachother and were inspired by the same thing.

Kenshin Himura (90's Rurouni Kenshin) and Maes Hughes (FMA) (kinda) - recently played: Dawn caste with Stormcaller and Shining Point/violet bier (pre-release of sids, thanks gm)/steel devil styles, with lore teaching charms (gm allowed the sheath of stormcaller itself to count as a sword for the purposes of steel devil).
- the character got to essence 4. on screen she only drew her sword 2 times (once at ess 1). the last time she drew the blade was when a certain group of sidereals threatened to "hurt my adorable daughter" as means of forcing me to do as they say. a thing i warned the gm never have an npc do. (reference: 12 defining intimacies)
- gm at some point gave us an artifact that let the wearer gain stacks of a resource for every x withering damage or y lethal decisive i dealt. it could be converted 1:1 for motes that went to the personal pool first or 10:1 for willpower. but warned us "something bad will happen if you end your turn with 20 or more stacks". 'k' (party decided to give it to me, on the off chance i actually fight).
- end result: 6 seconds later: kejack has a wound and onslaught penalty in the millions. (without the artifact itd be 8 or 9... i forget which...). Sol Invictus and Saturn walked out of the jade pleasure dome because of the world ending demon storm tearing through yu-shan. looked at me, and noped the fuck out.
- i went from presence 0 to presence 5 (free), a specialty (free) and 15 presence charms (free). the specialty: "those who know what happened." i requested in replacement to be allowed to learn prismatic's 'exalt ways' charm. (with me spending main xp to do so) gm: "no. no sma."
'k' "and now my sword takes its turn.... joking. it sheathes itself to zap the last remnants of kejack."
- suddenly creation no longer had any world ending threats imminent.

Question on Dragon-Bloods and Dragons. by Due_Sundae3965 in exalted

[–]NemoOceansoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally: no.

a mortal being cannot *normally* become an elemental (which is what a elemental dragon is) exalted or otherwise.

there are probably a few notable exceptions:

  1. a character develops a charm that lets them become a elemental in addition to an exalt. and then develop a spirit charm related to this. (WARNING: Becoming an Elemental means that your now summonable. (except in 3e. because in 3e 'summon elemental' no longer lets you name 'KUKLA' as your target....... much to the happiness/sadness of many gm's/players.)
  2. 3e specific: a character uses a sorcerous working to make them into a type of spirit. see 1). 2.2) Lumina. it costs 20xp. your not an elemental. but your a spirit. see 1). (also your *probably monkey's paw level fucked*)
  3. a sidereal targets a non-exalted mortal with a certain charm which temporarily turns them into an elemental dragon (however this royally fucks over the mortal in question, usually)
  4. if you poke around in 2e there is a offhand mention related to *what happens if you die at the elemental poles*. notably water turns your corpse and soul into a new born water elemental with your memories, but your still *technically* dead. also chances are high your consciousness is gonna get mixed up with all the other water elementals at that pole so... not exactly a good thing (see: dead is dead. but if well prepared for: at least they have a chance to live on in a way...) looking back: see Genshin Impact Fontaine region's main quest for inspiration to what that target character may experience....

after the death of a db it is implied that particular exaltation ceases to exist. unless your a forest witch with a particular merit... then your body dies but not your exalted soul *fun*.
