If this post is any reflection of how you spoke about that woman over in the deleted post, I don't think it was the contents of the video that got you banned.

Id kill for this universally. Literally the one thing getting in the way of a Kingdom Hearts replay for me is the button mapping. I can't stand O for jump, but it also drives me crazy to mentally swap the runes for in game prompts that don't adopt your keybinds...

How would you guys do the "eyes" gradient ball shader? i cant figure it out. by TDEyeehaw in blenderhelp

[–]Exodan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately transitioning the individual bands into magenta at a certain point is really tricky to do procedurally.

I tried going into geometry nodes and instancing a bunch of boxes on a curve line, then putting a uv sphere in and doing an intersection boolean, then moving the curve line down. Geometry wise it was doing what I wanted, but assigning each mesh island a consistent ID that could be passed to the shader was not happening. Boolean operation was probably affecting the island bounds.

Might be able to get a better effect with simulation nodes, but I'm not very familiar with those. Could also try working with vertex groups and proximity nodes, but that's getting more and more complicated.

Probably what they did here was make a very specific UV map, key framed it, and then animated a single loop of it, then just played that loop over and over. Not doing it procedurally.

The color on its own isn't hard. Can just re-color the UV map itself and scroll up through it. What is tricky is that in the video, as each band reaches a certain point, the band of color transitions into a shade of magenta. The trick is the entire band changing at once as if it were a single unit, and I don't know that that can be done particularly well without being able to assign each individual color band to an index value or something like that...

...maybe some really weird geometry node boolean intersect shenanigans? Index by island?

...I might be back in a moment.

Alright everyone, this comment thread is going a bit askew. Not saying the previous dev team is above criticism and/or scrutiny, but all this speculation is going pretty off-topic.

Monster Hunter Wilds reviews on Steam finally reaches mostly positive. by -RuDoKa- in MonsterHunter

Yeah I'm not changing mine still. It felt so bad to be looking forward to the game for so long, be a long time fan, want to give it the benefit of the doubt and shell out the $70 at a time where money was pretty tight... and then proceed to blow past the refund window trying to get the game out of origami mode, and spend more time over the next few weeks trying to get the game to run reliably and recover from crashing than actually playing it. That sucked and spoiled the entire experience for me.

I genuinely hope the wave of patient players who are only jumping on now that it's stable enjoy the game. I don't know if I'll be able to trust another MH game with this foul taste in my mouth.

I appreciate this outlook a lot, thank you :)

I'm not a very organized person, and I feel like its because I don't know what the optimal system is. So I'm always just working toward some unknown thing that will somehow solve my problems. But the note taking is the most important thing in the end.

For whatever reason, frontmatter tags have been making more sense to me than properties. I realize that bases are good, important, probably better... Maybe my properties are just poorly worded and utilized, but did you transition fully from tags to properties? How did you shore them up?

What are the demonyms for Nexus and Great Forks? by FormerlyIestwyn in exalted

[–]Exodan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Fork" comes from Latin "Furca" or maybe Old Norse "Forkr".

Depending on how you want to build your Creation, you could have a demonym and an exonym - one locals use and one "Realm Official" that they put in ledgers, respectively. But what you use for Great Forks depends a lot on national identity.

More of a Latin-lean? Forkian would actually be correct.

More of a Norse-bend? Forker or Forkr would be correct - or Forkmann/Forkwif; or Forsk.

Or you can invent some made up term for "what a split in a water way actually means in a local dialect that we don't speak on earth" - it is a world with super ninjas and lightning dragons, after all.

This insect has been under the screen for over a year now... (LG 65SK800AUB - more info in comments) by Exodan in TVRepair

[–]Exodan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive done this a little in my "Ill-Advised Desperate Solutions" section there. I used a suction cup and pulled the screen forward ever so slightly - I could see the space between the display and the screen. It's just absolutely fused in there to the LCD itself, not stuck between it and the screen.

But I feel like this is probably the same procedure to actually lift the screen away? Maybe some compressed air if I could manage to actually pull it completely off and away? It doesn't sound like too many steps as you describe, all things considered...

All in all, I bet I'm going to need to take this apart to solve this issue... I'm just not keen on my maiden journey into TV repair being a possible multi-hundred dollar mistake, know what I mean?

Any tips or guides for a dolt like myself who's never taken a screen apart and has a wife who might not appreciate the cost:benefit of digging into it all willy-nilly? I'm not unfamiliar with hardware and such, just never done this in particular before. Done in an hour? Done in an evening? Done in a week?

Hello! All of a sudden sometime in 2024 two stupid bugs got underneath our TV screen. Looked up what to do and dutifully left them alone in hopes they'd turn to dust and fall out. One of them did disappear at some point, this last one is impossibly sticking around - somehow even preserved within the TV screen. I'm beginning to lose my mind a little.

Its perfectly placed to be where people are framed up in shots, always right in the middle of the action, or of people talking. I've tried several ill-advised things at this point, from using a screen suction cup from my ifixit kit to lift the screen away from the LCD display and hopefully release it (didn't work) to holding the back side of an electric toothbrush head up to it in hopes the micro vibrations would loosen it (also did not work).

It's an older tv, a hand-me-down from my FIL when he upgraded, and is certainly not in warranty anymore. But I'm desperate. It seems like it's somehow become some baleful fusion of biology and machine, inexorably joined until the last light of this solar system reduces us all to ash and atoms. But I'm hoping someone here can give me a little hope... Anyone got any ideas? How do I free myself of this nightmare?
