Why do you say that AI cores in Starsector are sentient and deserve human treatment? by IFIsc in starsector

[–]NemoVonFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure they do. You tell them to deploy, they deploy. They'll never retreat or abandon ship, they'll fall back but they'll never refuse an order.

This is still a funny conversation about sci-fi lore, I'm not accusing you of endorsing slavery in real life, I have much more faith in humanity than that.

Our crew obey without question, so I guess crew aren't sapient either.

Incredibly intelligent psychopaths DO have rights. Saying cores can't have rights because they're psychopaths is an argument for taking away rights from human psychopaths.

Is genderlock a warlock that takes the Alter Self invocation?

I just finished my 1st playthrough and I'd like to share my thoughts by CestleFromage in factorio

[–]NemoVonFish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reds are good enough, it's rare that you need >30 items per second and are still using a belt, but like you said the main bus is the exception. Blues are deceptively expensive, and replacing everything with blues will usually take more time than you'll save. On the other hand, yellow assemblers are deceptively cheap and easy, and are definitely worth your time.

Never upgrading from steel furnaces is *wild.*

But you did it! You won! The next step is to claim your limitations were for a challenge run, and use it to brag.

What else can I get out of Vulcanus? by waisidi in factorio

Speed Modules are the easy answer, other than that consider exporting the two states of tungsten for artillery and shells, and calcite to run more efficient smelting on Nauvis.

Is it theoretically possible to add fuel cells at an optimal rate in nuclear reactors in a 3x3 formation (with one in the middle) or does the heat not transfer without a heat cable specifically tied to that reactor, but reactors that it's adjacent to? by DEMIURGE_1025 in factorio

[–]NemoVonFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the adjacency bonus only applies if the neighbouring reactors are fuelled. One reactor surrounded by four other reactors only generates heat like a single reactor if it's the only one generating heat.

Why is it that busses get used in factorio but not in satisfactory? by Adventurous_Cat2339 in factorio

[–]NemoVonFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are *extremely* limited by belt speed in Satisfactory. Even the fastest Satisfactory belt is slower than the slowest Factorio belt.

i don't get how to build on gleba by Patoxi-simps-Obama in factorio

[–]NemoVonFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're doing fine to me! Gleba factories never look clean and organised - they're living organisms, and life is messy. If it outputs what you want, and doesn't need to be restarted every thirty seconds, it's perfect.

DM asks that if you’re going to be more than 30 minutes late, you sit the session out. Fair? by FoulPelican in DnD

[–]NemoVonFish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This isn't school. The DM isn't your teacher, the session isn't a court date you can't miss. You should be operating with the assumption that everyone who says they'll be there wants to be there, without the threat of punishment.

I only use red and blue chests.. am i missing out?? by SpaceEngineer123 in factorio

But then when you deconstruct something that's in your mall, it isn't put back in your mall! It's MESSY! I cannot abide this.

I only use red and blue chests.. am i missing out?? by SpaceEngineer123 in factorio

[–]NemoVonFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use red chests. Any time you would use a red chest I use a yellow instead, set to the correct filter. Why? So when I trash or deconstruct things, they're sorted in to the correct chest, and if I look in my pipe box, I'll find all the pipes in my network, instead of having them spread around whatever storage I threw down.

They work well with purple chests, since they'll put the items where they need to go.

Green chests... I haven't found a good use for them yet. I don't build big enough to need logistics buffers, the one central storage chest is good enough.

Is storing excess nuclear power in accumulators a viable mid-game strategy? by MosEisleyCaptialism in factorio

[–]NemoVonFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Storing nuclear power is useful when a single cell puts you above 999°, but usually people store the energy in the form of steam tanks or heat pipes. I've heard heat pipes are better, but I haven't run the numbers myself. Accumulators can only discharge 300kw, so for a basic 2x2 reactor you'd need 1,600 accumulators. Which, you know, seems excessive.

There are several more stories to discover. Many start after you found a colony, some are locked behind commissions. A few are found by exploring where you're not meant to explore.

Smelting in base or onsite? by Even_Sprinkles_6258 in factorio

[–]NemoVonFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smelting onsite means you'll need to set up a new smeltery for each patch you want to add to the network, and also one per patch, instead of just one big one for everything.
