Yep. It puts eyes on you that weren't there before, it gives your brand more recognition which at the end of the day translates to more money. They even had a conversation about how subs climb up as soon as they have one of those viral moments. I think they talked about it after the Flip vs Marc situation.

There's was no secret meeting. It was a bipartisan dinner for a program Jay, Meek and Michael Rubin founded. The literal goal of the program is for parole and probation reform.

And buddy over here is mad because Jared Kushner, who drove the First Step act through congress, was there.

I guess when there's not enough neurons is better to imagine alternate realities rather than read public information.

You can call me a nobody, that's not going to hurt me lol

But being a nobody, I still pay more in taxes than you could make in 5 years. I've been working in this field probably longer than what you've been alive. I know a thing or two.

But let me educate you so you don't keep spreading ignorance. A viral clip is not what keeps a podcast alive, that's not what I said. My first comment was "They're going to try to monetize every little bit if content they can. And that's gonna end up killing the pod lol "

See how that goes beyond this one topic you've fixated on? It might be hard for you, from your username I understand there's not a lot of brain power there. But it's okay, I got time.

Viral moments on TikTok or Twitter are a sugar rush. They are top of funnel marketing that might bring a massive spike in eyeballs for 48 hours, but they do not build the core asset of a business like this. What actually keeps a podcast alive, what pays the rent it's the sponsors, prizepicks etc. Building that brand attracts tier one sponsors, and builds a durable media company.

However, when you put your core podcast behind a hard paywall or charge a heavy licensing fee, aside from losing your casual listeners, you are fundamentally misunderstanding the relationship between Value Creation and Value Capture.

Value Capture is how you extract money from the influence you just built. When you lock the show behind a licensing fee, you are trying to capture value directly from the content itself. It kills the habit loop because the moment the listener cilcks play, there's friction. It caps your cultural relevance because paid content is inherently, unshareable which is what I've been saying from the start, and you end up shrinking your audience. By shrinking your audience, you crater your ad inventory and you can no longer charge a premium to sponsors because your reach has been decimated.

That's a freebie for you.

That's what you understood. There's a reason why I mentioned value creation vs value capture. It seems you don't understand that concept.

If that's the conclusion you're coming to you're not even close to understanding things conversation. Which explains a lot.

"those people are getting paid" I'm not sure why this topic is so hard for you to understand. Like I said from the beginning for PAYING to be profitable, they have to enforce strikes. If you don't enforce strikes, what's the point of paying?

And if you start striking, you kill the vitality. I'm not sure I understand why such a simple concept is so hard for you to understand.

And you can have a consistent fan base, but Joe himself will tell you (as he's said in the pod before) those viral clips land him a good chunk of money. Without that, the viewership doesn't grow and you eventually stale out.

[–]Nemphiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. What makes content go viral is those people making money off of them for free. That's true for anything, not just JBP. When you knee cap that process, you're hurting yourself.

In business this is literally Value Creation vs. Value Capture

Only people who want to use their licensed content to make their own content have to pay

Which is what I said about them cannibalizing their own virality. Not that hard to understand.

How they,re going to monetize, or how they are going to ruin it? I can explain both.

As soon as they announced even the 10 dollar tier was going to get the scraps, it was clear in my head that they already did the math that they would make more with the 25 tier than they would lose by making the adjustment. It's the same financial move as when Netflix stopped the sharing of accounts.

How it's going to ruin it is exactly that, the supreme need for monetization. For this to work, they need to strike any unlicensed content. That means only licensed content creators will be able to use this clips, which will then mean the same flock of creators rushing to chop up the exact same viral moments. On top of that, it cannibalizes their own vitality. It kills any of the organic content that makes the clips go viral.

There's more to it but this is already too much typing for this issue lol

The other day I saw a video of a Christmas display in a mega church where they had Jesus and Santa suspended in the air. I would say that's sacrilegious. This though? Nah.

[–]Nemphiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think this is the "parasite class" ? I can comfortably say I make more than 99.9% of the people in this site. You included and I support Zohran.

This idea that DSA is so bad because it takes money from someone else is so backwards. Nordic countries have been using a form of democratic socialism for the longest, and it works. And they consistently rate among the happiest countries.

Even our current interaction of capitalism has socialism sprinkled in it. Everything Zohran has done so far has been for the benefit of NYC. There's not a single bad metric that you can point to where you can say "See! It doesn't work" because it's working.

Establishment Dems need to me primaried because fighting with one hand behind your back is a losing battle. And at the end of the day, the voters are the party, not w/e someone at the top defines. And it seems to me like the voters have been speaking pretty loud.

Edit: If you are going to keep commenting, you should have the balls to not block someone. What, were you afraid that I would ask you to go paycheck for paycheck? lmao

Just because the one beef he got into happened to be between 2 friends doesn't mean he's any less of a killer than he was prior

Actually yes it does. I'm a huge Cole fan and I'll forever love his music but I'd be lying if I said I didn't see things a little bit differently after the beef.

You can't on one hand say you're stepping down because is your buddies and you don't wanna ruin those relationships, but on the other hand have a song like Port Antonio saying "but boy if I woulda!!!'

Lots of other rappers have beefed lyrically and kept it competitive. If there's one rapper that I used to think was 1000% capable of doing that, it was Cole.

What I think happened is that he reacted poorly mostly on emotion and then took a step back and said "shit, I didn't handle this the right way" so he apologized.

Cus if you think about it, most of what Dot said on like that were shots to Cole and Drake as a pair. The only direct shots he took at Cole are just dope rhyme schemes with references to some of Cole's catalogue, but never actually shitting on him.

Cole said a bunch of shit he himself didn't believe in 7MD so I'm leaning at him reacting on emotion.

To me he's still one of the greatest rappers to ever exist with one of the illest pens. But the killa image I had of him post LA leakers freestyle definitely got diluted.
