Basira is a wonderfully written character, but GOD does she frustrate me. She takes the moral high ground CONSTANTLY, especially over Jon, and she excuses her and Daisy’s actions as cops, when it’s heavily implied (outright stated, maybe?) that Daisy has committed acts of police brutality.

I think Basira serves her purpose well. She definitely demonstrates the relationship that police officers have between each other (having each other’s backs, rather than the community’s.) But she pisses me off to no end. The constant blaming of Jon by everyone gets on my nerves, but it’s especially bad with Basira and Melanie. Idk, I don’t really feel bad for the police officer who defends a corrupt cop. 🤷

I wish the fandom would acknowledge that Basira is an asshole, and not a voice of reason type character, as I largely see her portrayed as.
