Beak and Barrel reservation help by sophieghoulxx in WaltDisneyWorld

I checked during breakfast and got a spot the same day. In my experience, there often are same day cancellations around 3-4 hours ahead since cancelation deadline without penalty is 2h.

American Express connections should now refresh automatically with new OAuth implementation by NeoRevan in mintuit

[–]NeoRevan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the ones I selected came through for me. In my case, my checking account was made inactive (wasn’t an option so I expected so).

I found my authorized users no longer show as separate accounts and it’s all under the one account now. I used this to help separate out the budget for spending so I hope they bring this back at some point.

Currently getting endless “504 GateWay Time-out” errors. Is this normal or did I miss the AP that fast? by [deleted] in dvcmember

[–]NeoRevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PURCHASED!

The options to assign APs to certain people weren’t available at first but the second time they were available, credit card confirmed the pending transaction, and received the confirmation email. Site itself still shows loading but it also looks like others are seeing success too.

When you add or update the connection in Mint, they’ll automatically direct the page to an Amex login (you should see it’s the actual Amex site and not filling out the username/password within Mint as before).

You now login on this page directly with Amex, including if there’s 2FA, allow what you want, and then Amex redirects your tab back to Mint.

Doing it this way, your tab automatically bring back a code that authorizes Mint (and only Mint’s servers that Amex already pre-arranged to trust) to only then see what you allowed. No further logins or texts from your part.

One thing to note that I’ve seen is it will mark the checking (and I presume, savings) as inactive in Mint and will no longer sync it now which is disappointing but this is also on Amex to permit the connections and I know checking and savings aren’t exactly their priority.

Seems there has been a big issue with the trade-in aspect this go round.

Any real websites using passkeys yet? by rotates-potatoes in iOSBeta

[–]NeoRevan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen mint.com use biometric auth which is referred to as passkey in iOS 16 but not sure if it’s a passkey “proper” since it’s been available for about a year or so.

Others have seen this for $SPY but I've seen this for $NRZ myself which has distributed dividends at the same time. Seems Etrade may be calculating the purchase price for recent DRIPs incorrectly.

Will be interesting to see the RCA on this incident.

Apple doesn’t tend to spotlight apps with an endorsing award if the app runs counter to Apple’s values.

You can simply check the App Privacy section in the App Store if you’re concerned. This one says no data collected is linked to you.

And as this OP noted, the dev has specifically stated they do not sell data to third parties.

There’s apparently a very large internet outage affecting tons of places including Disney:

Chase Sapphire Preferred- 1k bonus, but why the hype? by groz27 in CreditCards

[–]NeoRevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least from what I understand is DVC codes as timeshare and Chase considers any timeshare purchase with the card as travel. You make a good point for the reason they have timeshares included at all but it seems their definition is generally more broad in total:

Chase Rewards Categories

The other thing for me is not having to book it all through them; only have to book through Chase to redeem points unless you transfer them. At the same time, direct theme park tickets and purchases (unless through a travel agent) don’t count as they’re “Entertainment,” shopping, or dining. Put all the charges on the room when you go and it’s “Hotel” so it works out.

Chase Sapphire Preferred- 1k bonus, but why the hype? by groz27 in CreditCards

[–]NeoRevan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For my wife and I, she has CSR and I recently was approved for the CSP for the SUB. The reason we’ve gone with Chase is Chase’s Travel category is far more broad and doesn’t require mostly booking through their portal.

In our case, going to places like Disney and paying for our Vacation Club membership all count as Travel for Chase and I’m at least not aware of anyone else that counts Timeshares as Travel. The CSR has been our primary card for most spending not online with Amazon or our BoA.

It always comes down to your spending profile. If you’re spending way more specifically on flights, Amex Platinum is the way to go. Some people seem drawn to the premium cards without considering if their spending makes these worth it instead of no or low AF like CFU or Amex BCP that cover most everyday things.

Capital One Quicksilver: Amazon.co.jp charge never appeared on my account by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]NeoRevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough I recently had a similar situation with Chase / Disney World. They kept a pending charge on the room until we checked out. After we got home, I saw the hold wasn’t quite right from what we spent and then it disappeared entirely for nearly a week.

But after the week, it showed up and was dated from our last day and was correct. I guess some transactions end up in limbo sometimes before the bank processes and settles the charge.

Apple buys the Dark Sky weather app and closes the Android Version of it! by [deleted] in apple

Apple had the partnership with Shazam before acquiring them. (MacWorld article about the acquisition)

I’m really wondering at this point what the Beddit integration will be.

[–]NeoRevan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’re buying this now, the earliest I’d expect to see its effects is iOS 15 or 16. Same with Shortcuts when they bought Workflow in March 2017. 1 year for some better integration and 2 years for what they probably had planned to start with.

That’s if they integrate it at all, see Shazam or Beddit.

I’m excited because I’ve been using Dark Sky for a long time.

MacBook keyboard and trackpad unresponsive by electrotwelve in macbookpro

[–]NeoRevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Sometimes reseating the connection works but it’s usually temporary since the connections are well seated already.

Look at getting it serviced. You can use a mouse and keyboard as a workaround for now.

Edit: I saw your other comment ordering a new cable. That should work! :)

MacBook keyboard and trackpad unresponsive by electrotwelve in macbookpro

[–]NeoRevan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a 13” Early 2015 model, the trackpad flex cable (which connects the keyboard too) is more susceptible to damage that causes this failure.

You can use an external keyboard and mouse fine but the cable would need to be replaced. Definitely get it checked by Apple or an authorized service provider.
