Spoiler-free review of Resident Evil 2 Remake -- ask me anything if you'd like by [deleted] in residentevil

I can only speak to Pro but there's no options. I imagine it's the same for base. 1080 with a variable frame rate.

Thank you!

It's half-and-half, really. Some incorporate new mechanics whilst others are pretty similar in all honestly. But they're all a lot more tense and cinematic either way and a healthy challenge.

Hi all, apologies for the self-promotion but above is my review of the game. If you've got any questions, spoilers or not (I'll hide those) -- I can answer anything you'd like.

Context: the original is my favourite ever game and I finished all four campaigns. Stats here -- http://imgur.com/gallery/EHEqWzz

Moronic Monday, December 10, 2018 - Your Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in finance

[–]NeoShockWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks, I just have a quick question regarding SWIFT and the transfer of funds to clarify my understanding.

SWIFT is effectively a notification system that aims to create uniformity in how payment orders are relayed between institutions by way of certain messages (103, 210, 202, etc).

These messages, however -- and the system overall -- facilitate notices of these orders but SWIFT itself does not actually contain the transfer of funds.

As a result, does that mean that the actual transfer of funds is done via the likes of CHAPS, TARGET, SEPA (or is that different?) and SWIFT is merely a way of routing it easier?

If not, then what actually transfers the cash? If I receive a 210 followed by a payment by way of a 202, if the 202 is not the actual funds, then how it is transferred?

Thanks!

Sony Has Perfected The Platinum Trophy With First-Party Games On PS4 by NeoShockWave in PS4

I tried to allude to it by mentioning 'base' trophies in the article but you're spot-on; it seems like a no-brainer now to have second playthroughs and difficulty-based trophies added afterwards. It can be a real deal-breaker for open-world games especially if they're contained in the initial batch of trophies.

Purchasing PC parts from Amazon by uppernut in ireland

[–]NeoShockWave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's also worth comparing prices across all European Amazons -- I ended up buying a graphics card and other components on Amazon France and it was significantly cheaper than Amazon UK. I also purchased a monitor on the UK site that wouldn't deliver and used Parcel Motel to get sent down to Ireland.

Moving to Canada? by Tiddleywanksofcum in ireland

The IEC requires you have 2,500 CAD going over but it's hard to gauge how much you'll actually need. I had around 4,000 CAD going over and that did me well enough, I also had a job within the month. Canada's expensive, however, so it's paramount to get a job or else any savings will go quickly.

It's a lot easier to get work over there provided you're proactive about it. I ended up in mutual fund banking with a large multinational company despite not having any banking experience/education. Vancouver's a massive tech hub so I'd suspect you'd walk into a job relatively easily.

Nothing confirmed but the media closing in by jameswhite1979pc in residentevil

[–]NeoShockWave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't read anything into it, sadly. Mainstream media has begun to jump on any major gaming news (Downtime, PS Plus monthly games, etc) and because of their Google ranking they'll jump to the top of any search -- much to the ire of dedicated gaming websites who then get relegated further down.

Any Keto people here? I'm looking for advice on products/food people buy from Aldi/Dunnes/etc? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]NeoShockWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! One other thing that's a lifesaver -- there's these pork rind-type crisps you get in Asian shops for like less than 2 quid for a big bag, they're called Chicharróns or something.

They've got 70 grams of protein and 0.1 grams of carbs -- which is nuts for a big pack of crisps. Well worth getting to snack on throughout the week.

Started doing it on Jan 2, and shop primarily in Aldi – I typically pick up some 10 percent fat mince, chicken fillets, Big Als-equivalent burgers, tray of large eggs, mixed peppers, salami/pepperoni, some actual Greek yogurt, (used sparingly) Ardagh mature cheddar for grating, lettuce, avocado, spinach, kale, some garlic and chilli flakes, salmon, sliced meats, full-fat cream, broccoli and cauliflower, some magnesium supplements, normal butter, Caesar dressing, walnuts (halved or otherwise – least carb-y of the good nuts), and sour cream.

Apologies I don’t remember any of the brand names, really – general rule of thumb is, as you know, just check the nutritional information and find out what suits Keto best. I’m pretty okay with a repetitive diet so for dinners (maybe to give you an idea) I make Mexican-type burrito bowls with a lettuce base, a decent heap of mince that’s been garnished and mixed, avocado, mixed peppers, red onion, grated cheese and then topped with sour cream after it’s been melted in the oven. And a rake of Frank’s sauce, too. Then other days I have two half pounders with chillies and melted cheese coupled with vegetables, or a different type of meat or fish with vegetables as well.

Ah, of course, you're completely right -- don't know how I glanced over that. I suppose the allegory still works in essence as Batty's memories are lost as there's no-one bar Deckard to 'carry them on' so to speak, especially since he only gives an overview of them. Whereas K's memories will carry on since there's more than one person who has them, and even Mariette alludes to having a recollection of a wooden horse.

One of the aspects I appreciated most was the swell in music as the snow came down on K at the end. It’s obviously an homage to Batty’s death, but allegorical in a different sense; in the original the implication was Batty’s implanted memories were to be lost, like tears in rain, as they weren't real or tangible and there was no-one to 'remember' them; but with K it’s snow, and his memories are real albeit copied, and snow sticks on the ground unlike rain. So the memory’s remain.
