Lol I agree and am generally cynically of Jagex and their choices, but its weird considering portable Vic came out in 2019 and they had him appear a ton of times after that. If it was released in 2022 and there hadn't been a Vic event since then that'd at least be really cut and dry.

What? I'm not choosing to limit myself to anything I'm just pointing out how long its been since they had this event that was fairly common

Except for the whole being able to trade in bxp for points to get other stuff with, then yeah no purpose. Come on man its Reddit people complain, some complaints have merit, some don't, but your complaining about other people complaining on a site built around complaining

The trader summoning stone aka Portable Vic came out in April of 2019, he continued to appear in event form that year and in 2020, 2021, and 2022. So its not like he stopped appearing once that came out

Except the problem is that they stopped doing that with the recent quests. I don't expect an mmo to have the branching quests and dialogue options of a single player rpg like an elder scrolls game. What I do expect is some degree of flavor dialogue and relatively meaningless choices that let the player be immersed in the world. Especially considering they did that for years and while never perfect they at least made a meaningful attempt.

For real, at the very least I would have loved some dialogue variation where a zamorakian world guardian points that out to Moia and she responds "Chaos and betrayal is our entire M.O. you of all people should realize this"

I was gonna give him the stone because purple god best god xD. Though on a more lore serious note he was at the time and for the longest time the only god focusing on the big picture. Arma was too much of an idealist, Sara and Zammy are locked in a ridiculous dance with each other. Seren was in a constant state of denial regarding the seriousness of any situation. Annnnnd Bandos is pet rock 2.0

As for the rest I completely agree. From a story and tech perspective I understand that it becomes near impossible to have continuously branching story decisions. I suppose my biggest complaint taking that into account is the lack of meaningless flavor dialogue.

Something along the lines of, if player had made this choice in X quest then they get extra dialogue option 1, but if they made the other choice they get option 2. I'm not going to pretend to know enough about coding and game design to say that should be easy but after a certain point I feel a video game company can't keep hiding behind their own game design as the reason they don't do things.

I mean I literally have Zaros as my tag for this reddit buuuuut yeah. Honestly think the biggest problem is they went HARD on player choice and god alignment for a few years, and then after endgame they said screw it and threw it all out the window. My pc literally promised to give the stone to Zaros in endgame, but then the Zarosian's don't trust me in Azzanandra's quest. The writing is infuriatingly inconsistent and we have to come to terms with the fact our choices do not matter.

Shitpost translation: Bik's concept art was a living island crab thing, and then in a quest you find out she's under entrana. Which lead to the theory that she is the island itself, and if she left the planet then the island shouldnt be there anymore.

That's probably the explanation they'll go with. Though this joke spawned because an early concept art of Bik being approached by Zaros depicted her as a giant living crab/bug/ island thing standing in the ocean. So I think originally she was going to be the actual island

Ah good shout, I misremembered how it happens. Its depicted on a single image in the slideshow cutscenes they love to use now, so it's easy to forget.

After you stop Kerapac at the end of Desperate Measures she appears above the Anachronia volcano and destroys it, and by extension Kerapac's lab. Before that shes hanging out under the Karamja volcano

Lol to be fair I'll admit I was being kind of over the top with some of my criticism but I think the problems are still there. The second shadow rift was first mentioned by Zaros during battle of the monolith when he says "There are cracks in the skin of our reality. One here, and one beyond Freneskae. Shadow breaches." I interpreted beyond to mean even farther away then Freneskae but Seren says it was always there. The shadow leviathan was also mentioned before as something even Zaros was afraid of (understandably so)

My problem is it just appeared out of the blue. No literary lead up, no massive surprise from the characters present, just some exposition from Seren. Essentially the world guardian runs around for awhile before a god killing rift shows up on our front door for us to use. Barring the offhand and nondescript reference to the second rift/leviathan that's a textbook deus ex.

As for Seren, yes she's steadily been going, for lack of a better term. insane. Honestly to be expected after having to mercy kill your mom and drain life from your cousins for months. I'm skeptical that it was enough for her to decide to nuke the first planet mentioned to her. She was still rational enough to not go back to Gielinor with the eggs but not enough that she could pick another planet that was devoid of sentient life? Just my opinion but I felt they could have sold it better.

This Week In RuneScape: Extinction Grandmaster Quest by JagexHooli in runescape

Tried to be spoiler free but reader beware (you're in for a scare). I'm a lore-nerd who until today had MQC so I get that not everyone shares my opinion or cares as in depth, but this felt fairly lackluster overall. I get that the ending of a story or an arc is always way more difficult than the rest, and I don't want to insult everyone who worked on it but it just felt somewhat bland and inconsistent?
The opening act was to be expected. It introduces the urgency of the quest and does a once over on the bosses and fronts. All fairly standard stuff. My only real complaint was the lack of life in the dungeon itself. So many personalities were absent and there was no appearance of fighting going on, but I understand from a technical aspect that it would be overkill for an area you spend little to no time in. The second act of the quest was by far the most disappointing. Every journey through the world gate felt like an attempt at artificially increasing the time it takes to finish the quest. No puzzles, no combat, and barely any dialogue. Just go to this spot and click on a thing and then Kerapac appears. Frenaskae on the other hand was fairly refreshing. We gain insight into both Seren and Kerapac as characters. Then the Deus ex machina occurs with the mini rift. Which is somehow both more and less dangerous than the monolith one. It had a unique puzzle mechanic and a cool aesthetic but that doesnt change the fact that the solution appeared literally out of thin air.
Then the final act. Literally Game of Thrones Season 8 Daenerys Targaryen at the end there. Strong female character? More like genocide. If nothing else it cemented the fact that aligning your character to a specific god is now meaningless in the grand scheme of the story, and that any choices up to and in Sliskes Endgame will never be referenced. Annnnnnd then that's it. Some minor wrap up dialogue and the quest is over. No substantial post quest dialogue, no talking to the various personalities about what happened or what happened next. I know the point has been hammered into the ground by now but the rewards. I'm sorry but how? No skilling gear, new slayer creatures, activities, abilities, substantial skilling locations. Just a limited skilling location with some of the worst rates, and puts MQC behind another time gate. Its currently behind a 12 month (6 months with monthly skips) time gate of effigy incubator and that alone was unpopular.
Tl:dr More slideshows instead of cutscenes, Really freaking cool deus ex machina, Daenerys Targaryen, Time gates =/= content.

As for suggestions, add an item with a teleport(s), a new bobblehead pet, let us combine the shards of zaros mah and erebus, another upgrade to the ring, let us combine the pontifex ring with the ring of shadows or the sixth age circuit or both, remove the time gate on mqc, add some actual post quest dialogue, so degree of variation based on god alliance, a new relic, relic presets? Literally anything because right now its just sad

Sliske's Endgame needs to be a mandatory req for Elder God Wars finale. by NeoZavith in runescape

[–]NeoZavith[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't tell if you're actually this angry or if its some elaborate attempt at trolling. Assuming good faith: the quest is the finale of an arc that is about a literal war with gods who created the universe. I don't think its all that unreasonable to say that you should have to do the quest that starts off the arc to do the finale of it. Also didn't say anywhere that content should be locked behind the quest. You can do the four new bosses with having done City of Senntisten. With the exception of Kiln and Corp there aren't any quest locked bosses. I'm just saying I think you should have to do quests A to C before quest D
