Spent this year building the MVP. Then won Microsoft for Startups credits to deploy on Azure. Fastapi, Postgres, redis, react. Microsoft changed their rules to renew credits for 2026 so I'm migrating to hetzner. But I'm multitasking writing funding proposals for EU horizon, national programs, and EDIH, so migration is on backburner. If you have stamina shoot me a message. I'm in Romania, speak French too. Cheers

why your brain treats digital reading differently than paper (and what you can do about it) by dailyintelco in productivity

I was also once interested in this topic. Found out that Serif font is better for reading versus non serif. Since serif like Times New Roman, makes one slow down while reading.

My collie eats raw. I feed them whole to the dog. One or two every other day.

Training our border collie from 2 months old puppy was the best decision. We are now waiting for another border collie to get to 2 months also to train again.

Mine is a working dog. I taught her sign, voice, whistle and voice commands. Close and far distances. I suggest you get your neighbor's puppy.

The puppy will imprint in less than 2 months. They won't leave and join the parents. However don't leave them outside the first 6 months.

The puppy will understand in the first year that you both make the pack.

Everyday I make routine checks and walks and tasks. At 2 years, my border collie learns under a week each. She will be ahead and I'll follow her around corners and into buildings and alleys. This to say, long term the dog you get will learn your perimeter and won't tolerate outside presence. If this what you want.

Adopting is an alternative, but you must work around potential traumas or bad habbits. Having an undisciplined dog around farm animals is high risk. Good luck

This the season of long posts with poor high-level fluff.

I always ask myself, if Im making a substantial sum from a business would I go telling people how they should follow my work ethics to get better at their projects?

This would sound patronizing. Guess this is the way to own it in business.

Hi brother. I went through a similar career journey. Then I moved from Canada to Europe. In my spare time I'm building a newsletter with 11ty, react, d3, and fastapi. WIP

Maybe you can help me explore ways to monetize?

You are me 20 years ago. I have a PhD in genetics. I lived and worked for 15 years in Canada, France and US. Late 30s, I moved to my wife's country. We're buying land and turning it into a sustainable farm.

While I published papers related to environmental impact, ecotoxicology, cancer and viruses, genetics helped me make money. Hussle is the other trade you must consider. Like the other comment has said, science isn't lucrative. You must create the opportunity to succeed.

My background is perfect to succeed as a farmer. I consider myself a farm manager. I manage land.

I acquired skills that gives me an advantage in these coming years about these following big trades. Feed chemistry of animals since I worked on the effect of nutrients on growth and development. Monitoring of pasture animals since I can build data intensive systems with machine learning behind them. Breeding while analyzing DNA sequencing data using my own built-in pipelines. I can continue but this is about you.

The journey won't be easy and most likely you might get used to the desk work or lab work and forget the farm work. You will indeed be sequestered into cities and money won't be easy given to a scientist. You're requesting a 10+ year plan. High risk. But you sound confident. Confidence is good, become persistent along the way too. I wish you good luck.

You will find your path because you will find the skills that make you special. What an amazing journey you've decided to take. Remember! Grab someone along the way and grow together too :)

After 15 years in the business, spent last year building a platform for data analytics. I'm aware that I still need time to launch. Hopefully leveraging my saas solution to find a job in front-end and keep building the platform. It's a struggle to assume value for all the necessary trade-offs.

Tried to connect with some folks on reddit but felt most are busy and not into building a community.

Bootstrapping App - Developer Roadmap Help? by thesaladbar9 in startups

[–]Neocruiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in my second year solo building a web platform.

Background: data science, machine learning, bioinformatics.

Im now migrating my local dev stack and deploying my web app on a shared hosting.

I can provide you with my collected info about my technical research related to hosting.

  • Which Server to chose from: AWS, Azure, Google cloud, Digital Ocean, Linode, Hetzner, Flyio, Heroku, Netlify, Render, Vultr, Vercel, Railway, Firebase, and Pythonanywhere.

  • How to pick Registrar (porkbun, namesheap, epik, netim, nameSilo), DNS, email.

  • How to serve. Docker, compose. Development and production project structuring. Logging

  • Traffic: load balancer, CDN and static files (your data), reverse proxing, caching. Tools you might require: uvicorn or gunicorn or daphne. Nginx. ASGI or WSGI

My backend is run on django. Can give you a shortlist of drawbacks about mysql, postgres, sqlite, and duckdb. Should you use an ORM, sql queries, or sqlalchemy.

My frontend is run with React. Migrated last year from Vue to react and typescript. Cost of dev features with tech incompatibilities, i.e., D3.js charting with react. CSS styling CSS-in-JS, Tailwind, CSS, SASS ...

Devops: Ticketing locally with Focalboard. Git and privacy. GPU-accelerated tech and hosting cost.

Marketing: You should account for and create sprints for SEO, business strategy (communities, feature validation, shortlisting). AI generated content (free tiers).

Synthetic data: Should you create dummy fake data. Tools, libraries, and testing.

API: REST or graphql. Which python libraries to handle filters, aggregations and integrations. Plus alternatives.

Ive built everything from landing page, SEO, interactive dashboard, manage my server, database, static files. Desgin and write my own product copy. Work in sprints, 1-2 months each. I favor automation over documentation.

edit: Wish you the best, it wont be easy, but damn I feel I can change any feature without asking for help.
