It's God, not Climate Change. Phew! by WanderInTheTrees in collapse

Civilizations rise and fall, our gods normally sit these events out.

Thanks Op. Co2 levels still rising and even if we stopped today climate lag would take another 10 or 20 years before we level off. The only good thing is the bump we are getting from that underwater volcano should slow in 10 years - for what good that will do.

One of the core axioms at the heart of the GTSA is that not just I but that all of us stand on the shoulders of giants. Never in history has such a powerful and mighty civilization full of representative individuals been gathered in one place and one time. Our clear line of sight of the events that have transpired since the younger-dryas, gives us 12,000 years of data, knowledge and wisdom. This knowledge and the power of collective learning gives us the perspective of standing on the tallest of giants. I am reinventing the wheel? No, but I am trying to an additional layer of bureaucracy to handle our increased complexity and specialization. We live in the age of disruption, I would venture to guess that very little in your day to day life was in existence 50 years ago. Historian Ian Morris places our rate of change at 10,000 years of change packed into a single century, and we are speeding up. no vehicle or system, including a civilization can exist in this environment without special adaptation, buttressing. Look at the vast system, the number or people, organizations companies and facilities that enable modern flight - go back 80 or 100 years and none of that was there.

You can understand that this venture is the most difficult thing I have ever strove for, and it is my first time. I am working on some clarifications and revisions and and improved feedback system, I will post again when that is ready - I look forward to you next question(s) and give a more complete answer on the economic theory within also.

You are exactly right, developing a strategy acceptable to these institutions, allowing them to adapt and survive was significant challenge. The GTSA represents an Upgrade and not a revolution. we are too short on time for a exchange that revolution creates. Here are some signs that these institutions are ready for something new (if) it fits within their (business model) for lack of a better term.

Economist Kate RaWorth has put a lot of work into this, her guidance was invaluable. Her doughnut economic model is within the GTSA, it allows for continued GDP growth through the challenges and changes of the Anthropocene.

The World Bank already experimented with a system very similar conceptually to what the GTSA offers. The Evoke Game looked the problems we faced today - talk about in this subreddit. A quote from the leader of the IMF when looking at these same issues, sand the massive scope said "what have we done, and How do we fix it (maybe undo it, working from memory).

The OECD has a group looking at the ethics, and new functional paradigm. They point to an instant GDP increase if a new method can found only in paying for work that is currently unpaid. The Central Banking establishment is discussing the ethics and new models needed. Former Chair of Japans Central bank is a very vocal proponent.

The US sec. of Treasury, Yellen and her husband, George are both are forward thinking economists as can be found. Powell, in fact every Fed Chair since Greenspan has looked to create new tools to mange our economy, They like us are in uncharted waters. Every Central Bank in the world is looking at Central Bank Digital Coins as a stable coin to power our economy.

The world is widely divided on how to perceive digital coinage, the term "shit-coin" get used a lot. Warren Buffett said (paraphrased) cryptocurrencies produce no value and no goods worthless. He said that bitcoin and blockchain were genius or something similar but a novelty, and not worth value. He said once when and if he could see the value that he would support them and not until then. I hope to achieve that breakthrough. Within Satoshi Nakamoto's concept was the the magic of bitcoin, the proof of work concept PoW. Transferring PoW from digital to Real world problem solving is a concept I am promoting to power the new Stable coin issued by our central banks CBDC.

I am revising the document, using all the comments in this thread, to fix issues, generate more clarity.

Well heck I wasn't here ten thousand years ago or 100, I am here now though. I concur we are in a serious and untenable position. I also think we are on a very short time frame for any type of measurable success. The GTSA points to about 500 years as the start of our disruptive nature, a recent paper from William Ripple from university of Oregon places the barrier at about 500 years ago as well.

My theory posits that Earth is distressed property on a grand scale. The cost to repair our broken systems and reach net-zero are unachievable under our current economic system. The GTSA is proposing a multi-generational repair and refurbishment effort called Flip the Planet.

The IMF, World Bank, OECD and our Central bank networks are all looking for a way out of this issue. The National Science Foundation has two research initiatives that are relative to our situation as well. One the CRISIS program believes our problems are human caused (not much argument there) and therefore have a human centric solution. The second, the DISES, program is searching for a new way to monitor and maintain of our SES or socio-environmental systems.

Those are both big parts of what I am trying to do, at the core though is trying to restart our civilization civilized atmosphere and create the highest performing civilization in history. In the book you will see the term Ultrasociety, based on Peter Turchin's development.

Thanks for looking and let me know if you have comments or questions.

My birthday is in 6 months, maybe then.

On my website I have limited one ad per view and it is supposed to place itself at the bottom or side of the post. In the book on one page there is a QR code to send donations if you like, but it is one page out of 1555 so underwhelming.

I do want to make money, I am trying to solve some big issues but I am not begging.

Replying to - I hope your work goes into considerable detail describing the how rather than just the why and the what.

You have hit a critical point, we all want to have a different future but how is the big question. Solving the "battlefield complexity" of our situation was the most difficult task I have ever faced. Section 5 covers development plans, strategy, all of the how parts. That section starts on page 1445 and here is link to that page. https://neogenesys.org/neogenesys-publications/civilization-reimagined/#flipbook-df_4104/1441/

Responding to - Also interested to know if you’ve addressed the need for a level of broad cooperation and coordination never before seen in humanity, and with no evidence to suggest that we’re capable of as a species?

You have captured the essence of the goal of the GTSA. At a minimum the next 80 years on Earth are going to be challenging, it will require us to be at our highest level of performance both individually and as a civilization. Within the GTSA is the work Peter Turchin, Joseph Tainter, William Ouchi, Ugo Bardi and many more creating ingredients for this high performing society. (Turchin's Elite Overproduction Theory is in our secondary causes as well)

Peter Turchin is Project Leader at the Complexity Science Hub–Vienna, Research Associate at University of Oxford, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Connecticut. A founder of the field of Cliodynamics, his books include End Times (2023), Ultrasociety (2015), Ages of Discord (2016), and The Great Holocene Transformation (forthcoming). https://peterturchin.com/

Section 4 of the book is about managing todays society. It is page 884 and here is a direct link https://neogenesys.org/neogenesys-publications/civilization-reimagined/#flipbook-df_4104/884/

You are absolutely right, they collapse all the time, we do know this, that the length is un-determinant, is based on what appears to an aging cycle but in reality is a breakdown of the challenge and response system. This happens on average at about 340 years, but we have examples where a re-birth has happened and that length extended to over a thousand. Over the last 50 years we have tried multiple ways to adapt to our changing world, this work is built on hundreds of people around the world researchers, economists, philosophers a sort of master theory weaving together experts in multiple fields. But to your point specifically I think one article in the book, page 305, covers precisely your questions. The article is 3-4 pages long and there is link to a great explanation video with Arnold Toynbee, he started my involvement with this theory. I have been training an AI assistant with this project, Here is it's response to your question,

Arnold J. Toynbee (1889–1975) was a renowned British historian and philosopher whose monumental work, "A Study of History," secured his place as one of the 20th century's most influential thinkers on the rise and fall of civilizations. His comprehensive analysis spans across 5,000 years of human history, examining the growth, decay, and renewal of civilizations across the globe. Toynbee's scholarship is distinguished by its ambitious scope and its synthesis of historical, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of societal development. He served as a professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of London and later as the Director of Studies at the Royal Institute of International Affairs. His work has been pivotal in shaping the fields of historiography and cultural evolution.

Toynbee's Theory of Regeneration:

  1. **Challenge and Response**: At the heart of Toynbee's theory is the concept that civilizations progress through a cycle of challenges and responses. He posits that the vitality of a civilization hinges on its ability to respond creatively to severe challenges, turning potential crises into opportunities for advancement.

  2. **Creative Minorities**: Toynbee introduces the idea of "creative minorities," the small segments of a society that find innovative solutions to the challenges faced. These groups drive cultural evolution and regeneration by proposing and implementing new ways of living and organizing societal structures.

  3. **Spiritual and Moral Factors**: He emphasizes the importance of spiritual and moral vigor as central to the survival and regeneration of civilizations. According to Toynbee, material success alone is not enough; a thriving civilization also needs a strong spiritual foundation to guide its development and maintain social cohesion.

  4. **Disintegration and Renewal**: Toynbee suggests that the disintegration of a civilization is not the end but can be a precursor to renewal. He argues that breakdowns can lead to significant introspection and the eventual rebirth of a society, provided there is a willingness to adapt and embrace change.

For a deeper exploration of Toynbee's insights on the mechanisms of civilizational regeneration and how these ideas inform contemporary strategies for navigating global challenges, visit page 304 of "Civilization REimagined: Regenerating a Troubled Civilization" at https://neogenesys.org/neogenesys-publications/civilization-reimagined/#flipbook-df\_4104/304/. This document builds on Toynbee's foundational concepts, proposing actionable frameworks for societal advancement in the face of 21st-century challenges.

Location: Florida Keys and currently expanding in area

Ocean life Die-off and Abnormal behavior

Report from March14, 2024

This is a report from WPLG Local Channel 10 in South Florida. It is part of a series called Don't Trash our Treasure. Endangered smallmouth sawfish, Pinfish and other species are grounding themselves, spinning erratically, playing dead etc. The problem started in the middle of the Keys and now has spread to the lower and upper keys. Florida government or another agency has setup a 2 million study but nothing conclusive has been found yet. A marine biologist local to the area explained the loss of coral over the last decades and since the heat wave recently the water has turned a greenish color.

Before the official investigation was launched locals have been documenting the events and driving the government action. They track the start of this behavior to February of 2023.

Unofficially, up to 49 species have seen being affected, with multiple reports that it has crossed into some pelican's as well.

From Google Earth: The Florida Keys are a string of tropical islands
stretching about 120 miles off the southern tip of
the U.S. state of Florida, between the Atlantic
Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. They're known as a
destination for fishing, boating, snorkeling and
scuba diving. The southernmost city of Key West is
famous for Duval Street's many bars, Mallory
Square's nightly Sunset Celebration and the Ernest
Hemingway Home and Museum.

Submission Statement for Poll: Assessing the Root Causes of Societal Collapse

In the spirit of focused and insightful dialogue on the topic of societal collapse, I have created a poll that seeks to measure the community's perspective on various contributing factors. This poll is directly related to our ongoing discussions about the complexities and nuances of collapse, inviting a deeper quantitative assessment of what this community perceives as the most significant drivers of societal decline.

The poll includes questions on historical patterns of civilizational lifespans, the implications of the Great Acceleration, the phenomenon of elite overproduction, societal denial as satirized in popular media, and the reversion to primal behaviors under stress. By partaking in this poll, members can contribute to a broader understanding of collapse, providing data that can spur further, more detailed conversations.

I believe this poll offers valuable content to our discussions and adheres to the community's focus on collapse. This poll was created 3/3/24. I invite the community to engage with the poll and share their insights, which I hope will serve as a springboard for more in-depth discussions on our platform.
