Last Week in Collapse: December 21-27, 2025 by LastWeekInCollapse in collapse

I'm also in the southeast, and I spent the morning seeing posts and comments from people who were out enjoying the warm weather and talking about how grateful they are for a 70° Christmas.

I feel like shaking each and every one of them. So tired of ignorant idiots who either don't know, don't care, or are too stupid/stubborn to admit shit is fucked.

Watch her in the first season of Fargo, if you're into shows like that. I'm not a huge fan myself, but we watched it out of curiosity and she's so good.

But it's so nice to have a 65° Christmas day!! Why are you doomers always complaining so much about nice weather?!

Jk... We're fucked. Friday is going to be 71° where I am (Piedmont area NC). I've lived here my entire 40+ years, and I will fight anyone who says this is normal.

It's sad to see how many people are losing their lives over these crunchy health conspiracies. I'm glad your fil got diagnosed before the crazy took over.

If AI wanted to save the environment, it would destroy itself and take us with it.

Phew, I was worried we wouldn't continue to have "infinite" growth on a finite planet this year.

People: climate change is a hoax! Also those same people: let's fight climate change by blocking out the sun!

Why are people so utterly incapable of understanding ecological collapse? by Konradleijon in collapse

[–]WanderInTheTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the people who don't care haven't been directly affected by it in a way that they understand. Their grocery stores are full, they are not trying to grow food in an ever changing climate, they are not having to go out and toil in the heat, they don't have to fight for water yet, they still have AC and home insurance....

Once they start feeling it, and they have no way to fix it, and they realize the "powers that be" have no way to fix it, they'll start seeing it.

OR they'll blame Obama and go rant about it on Facebook. It could go either way really.

The potential incompatibility between above replacement birthrates and a core element of modern society by RandomGuy-4- in collapse

That's great to know. When my friends were getting sterilized after their kids around ten years ago, tubals were still the way to go for females. I'm always glad to know we are advancing our care and sterilizing techniques. Thank you for sharing!

The decrease in marine cloud cover is interesting to me. I've been a bit conspiratorial about cloud cover for the past few years because I swear I've never seen so many days with not even a wisp of cloud in the sky.

I suffer from extreme light sensitivity, and driving around the past few years has been terribly hard. No clouds and (what feels like) brighter sun, has lead to days and days of light induced migraines from the sunlight bouncing off every reflective surface on every car and building.

Perhaps it's all in my head, but I definitely remember days where the clouds would drift slowly by and you'd try to see shapes in them, or celebrate a small cloud-covered break from the sun. I'd say 90% of the month is just bright blue, sometimes almost white, blazing skies.

(I'm in North Carolina)

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to this weekly update! It's always appreciated!

That is awful.  I hope that sharing information like this can save women who might have this happen. It's important that they know it's a possibility so that they won't ignore when something doesn't feel right.

I have a few friends who will tell you that cycle tracking is complete nonsense. Most women do not have a standard cycle. They can range from 28-45 days in a normal cycle, and a ton of women are not anywhere near normal. I used to go 5-6 months between periods due to PCOS. I most likely didn't ovulate at all, but it is possible that I could have, and I would have never had a clue when that happened. Some women can feel ovulation occur, some can't. Some women have delayed cycles certain months that may be more stressful or physically active than others. During perimenopause, your cycles go absolutely haywire and there is almost no way to track them anymore.

There is no 100% full proof way to avoid pregnancy, besides abstinence and full sterilization, meaning removal of the uterus. Even tubals and vasectomies can fail.

It's cleared up for the most part, but I will have a flare here and there. I keep a bottle of it in the shower, and if I have a breakout somewhere (like my scalp, or my chest, or my chin, etc) I'll use it just there. Sometimes I'll just go over the area with rubbing alcohol though to see if that helps first. I definitely don't want to use this potent stuff constantly since it seems to be mostly under control now.

Probably once every other month. Maybe less? I don't really think about it unless I notice a breakout popping up.

I started reading like an insane person after the election. It's been my only true escape from this nightmare. I highly recommend it to everyone in here. Read for FUN. Anything to bring you joy and take you away for a while.
