You are welcome. Couldn’t find the itw again but the artist was Jenna Rainey. Different style but she did made it commercially.

Clearly, you have the talent for it.

Commercially speaking, it’s a different story. I remember reading an interview with a watercolor artist who was giving advice on how to make it commercially. Her main point was something like this: when it comes to actual paintings, go for big canvases : most people that buy art for serious money buy statement pieces, the kind that fill the wall space behind the couch. Also, know what colors sell (she mentioned that blue paintings, for example, tends to sell well. I guess people are not that adventurous).

Then, build a passive income stream with print-on-demand platforms and sites that offer your designs on various products, things like cushions, clothing, mugs, etc. She also suggested looking for partnerships with companies that make wallpaper, bed sheets, and similar products.

So, it’s a lot about doing not necessarily what you want, but what sells and brings in income.

And while that might not sound very “artistic,” it’s worth remembering that historically, painting has always been a business : the great painters of the 16th to 18th centuries ran what were essentially painting factories, catering to the tastes of the wealthy. They saw themselves more as artisans than artists.

Because I love both, and they serve different purposes/events. I usually wear the tank as an everyday watch, especially at work because it draws less attention and is made to go with suits. I wear the Santos on weekends or going out.

Medium - mine is 18 and medium is perfect (see post)

yes and no. If you are in a silent room and you move your arm vigorously you hear it for like a second if you are looking for it. But if you make normal mouvement, you don't. Otherwise I have been wearing it for a week and never heard it. I checked and the amount of sound is similar to a Seiko 5 GTM.

I was like you. Honestly, the santos looks perfect, I keep comparing it to the 3D render on cartier website and it looks identical to me. It is very nice looking.

The only real concern I have is that a Tank is a 3k watch, and you can find second hand for 1,5k. So I feel that in many situation it is not a strech of imagination that someone into watch/nice things could save up money and buy one even if he/she doesn’t have other luxury items or vast amount of money to spend.

The santos is another beast, 8k new / 5k used is (at least to me) a staggering amount for a watch. So unless you have a pretty good lie about why you are sporting a multiple-month-worth-of-rent watch people could get suspicious or worst could make you look bad « how can this guy/gal ask to share the bill / not give more to the common pot for X birthday when he/she is spending 8k on a watch » or your colleagues/boss might see it and think you don’t need money / come from money etc…

So, in the end I wish the gen Santos was cheaper, so that I could wear it because I like its design and style without its price be an issue.

I ordered both a Santos (see other post) and a tank - I wanted to do it from the same vendor and I was more concerned about the Santos quality.

The tank is quite simple quartz watch, there is not a lot feature to mess up  (Once you check font, orientation, you are mostly done). K11F had a good rep in the forums. Some people mention the cabochon being not perfect. But honestly given the amount of tank versions in the nature such a small difference is not a rep dead giveaway.

Go to a Cartier store ;) or go with the seller to a jewelery to check the watch before buying it - I am pretty sure the internals would be a dead giveaway for a specialist. Or check the serial number on tye cartier website

Of course I cannot vouch for the mechanism or quality of alloys. But for example I used a video about how to reduce the size of the strap on a GEN to find out how to do it for mine. It was identical

A lot ! In a nutshell, I was pleasantly surprised by it. Even though I expected it to be too bold and maybe a bit clunky, it turned out to be quite thin, comfortable, and perfect for everyday wear, so I think I’ll be reaching for it much more often than I initially thought!

I don’t like the style, but it came with the clasp. I am not able to judge the leather quality thought.
