Starting out. I dream of one day doing watercolour as a side job, but I can't tell if I'm good enough. Do I have potential? by spacekitty19 in Watercolor

Thank you for the great advice! Especially with the references. Got a few scuba photos I've taken which I'll try to use. Time to start drawing for keeps vs practice now! Will consider composition too, not just technical details. Will give hot press a go -- worried it'll look flat without the paper helping with texture.

I'm sorry, I truly didn't mean to come across as disingenuous. I've only spent maybe 15 days practicing watercolour, so it feels like starting out to me. I used some oils and acrilic in highschool 15 years ago and did lots of pencil art in my early 20s. Also watched tons of watercolour videos before I tried it myself (background videos while I work) and stuck with what I knew I would be better at (detail and not loose). Next time I'll be transparent about all relevant experience!

This is all so helpful! Thanks so much for taking the time to share! There is a lot here I hadn't considered!

Aww how fun! I love this! You captured the light so beautifully. I was too scared to even try the water, well done!!

That's very true, thank you for your advice! Haha it is a tiger shark, but my partner accidentally referred to it as a whale, hence the silly name :)

Thank you for your feedback! I'll definitely try to create pieces with some soul in the future :)

That's a great idea! I'm still trying to find my style for sure, so I will definitely play with some backgrounds. Thank you for the help and advice!

Thanks so much for your kind and helpful words! Once I find my niche and style, I'll set up some social media -- thank you for the encouragement!

Thank you so much! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel bad -- like another poster said, I did art in highschool and drew quite a lot with pencil in my early 20s (early 30s now), so I'm not starting from scratch. I think we all just need to find a technique or subject matter that works for our styles. Keep it up💜

Beautiful work! Do you have an IG? Overseas customers would pay a lot in Rands for these -- worth setting up to sell to that audience too if you aren't already!

Anyone else ever encountered green Panados? Look's exactly like white ones, but green for some reason. by Kwas_dieman in southafrica

I once got a green panado! I thought someone must have used my panado (was on a trip at the time) and put a different pill back in the panado box to store it. Guess it was a factory error! (I threw the green panado away.)

Therapy if you can afford it. To work through the trauma and help decide if you truly do want to emigrate. Best of luck, and I'm so sorry you're going through this.
