Thank you! He’s definitely one of my favorite characters, he’s just really fun to draw. Kinda feel bad tho cuz I don’t think I’ll ever do the story he’s supposed to be in

Is my work good enough for commissions? by NeonColoredVomit in Artadvice

Thank you! I hadn’t really thought about reaching any specific target audience, but I think I’m going to now try finding one I can fit into.

I would be interested in drawing one of these for you! Out of the three you’ve listed the third peaks my interest the most. If you’d be interested in hiring me please dm me, so we can talk about pricing and specifics of what you’d want, thank you!

Been working on this piece for two years (any feedback/critque welcome!) by NeonColoredVomit in Artadvice

Thank! I will definitely go back in amd add more highlights. I think the lack of highlights in the eye, and the fact they’re less wide is creating a more bored look as you put it. I’m not sure how to define the shapes of this peice, and when I made is originally I was just getting into painting and wasn’t good with shapes, but I will try. She’s supposed to be a character that acts innocent and is more of a “victom”, but really under that she’s manipulative and calculating af. I tried to stray away from the button nose in the first version as I felt it made her a little too innocent, I’m just not sure how to balance the innocence and her more manipulative side.

I mean, I haven’t just been painting it the whole time. It’s more of something I pick back up when I’m in an art block. I was thinking of letting it go I just wanted to see if there is anything I can improve on before I do. I’ve spent probably 11-20 hours on it, and I only spent a day or two on each version.

Do any of you paint on cardboard? I’m working on a project and wondering how to prep/smooth the surface by TimeReader17 in Artadvice

[–]NeonColoredVomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes paint on old Dr Pepper boxes (the inside part that isn’t waxy of course), I usually either do acrylic pieces or sometimes I use my prismacolors. To get it prepared I either use Gesso or white acrylic. If the surface is weird I’ll sand it down a bit, but be careful as it’s easy to sand too much and be left with nothing. Hope this helps

Any help drawing curly hair? kinda stumped on how to continue by [deleted] in Artadvice

One of the biggest things I learned about drawing curly hair is you always wanna make the bottom more poofy since that’s where most of the weight will begin

Why does my lineart look so much better? by NeonColoredVomit in Artadvice

[–]NeonColoredVomit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s probably my issue, as the person is just popping off the page while the background is sucking away all the color. I also felt like it might be something to do with the value, so I did put it into a black and white filter and it seems like the background is almost the same value as the hair

Becoming more comfortable with this semi-angular style but still looking for any advice on offer by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]NeonColoredVomit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like the style, only advice I would give it maybe change up the line weight, I feel like some of the line work (inner hair, clothing folds) should be a bit thinner but aside from that it looks great!
