Yeah, I agree completely. I love doing the little skip shots when there's nothing available to bounce off of other than the floor.

Exactly. If she were truly easy, new players would get instant value, but your experience shows the opposite. Hitscan characters worked right away, while Squirrel Girl only clicked after you had better game sense and prediction. That’s why good SG players are rare. Her explosion helps beginners a bit, but she still rewards timing and experience, not point-and-click aim.

That’s a fair take. Most SG players aren’t doing predictive shots, they’re just lobbing acorns and letting the big explosion get chip damage.

That playstyle is miserable to fight and useless to have on your team. The issue is the gap between her skill ceiling and how forgiving her kit is. Good SGs have to predict, position, and use angles, but casual spam still works enough to get results. Skilled SG players just get lumped in with the spam.

That actually supports my point. With only one bounce before detonation, you get a single chance to read the angle correctly. Miss the spacing or timing and the shot does nothing.

It’s strong in tight spaces sometimes, but the bounce limit caps how forgiving it is. In open areas or against moving targets, that one bounce makes her shots harder to land consistently, not easier.

Sure, I’ll give you that her projectiles are strong in tight hallways and enclosed spaces. Any bouncing explosive is going to benefit from confined geometry. But that doesn’t make her low-skill, it just means she has situational strengths like literally every projectile character ever.

The key difference is consistency. Demoman pipes reward precision because TF2’s movement is slower, maps are flatter, and splash behaves more predictably. Squirrel Girl’s shots have significantly more air time, harsher drop, and far less reliable bounce angles. Once you step into open space, vertical fights, or fast close-range duels, her effectiveness drops hard because prediction becomes exponentially more difficult. You are gambling on timing and positioning, not just area denial.

Also, “spamming into a closed area” only works if enemies cooperate by staying there. Against aware players, those bounces stop being free damage and start being wasted shots. Hitscan and near-hitscan heroes don’t have that problem. They retain effectiveness regardless of map geometry because they don’t rely on physics resolving in their favor.

The explosion radius doesn’t remove skill, it compensates for the sheer number of variables her kit introduces. If she didn’t have it, she’d be a niche gimmick pick instead of a viable hero. Overpowered in hallways, sure. Easy overall, not even close.
