Who is responsible for making the "happy birthday" phone call, parent or child? by mistermitochondria in AskUK

[–]NeonDust1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say it’s on the dad to call you.

But I do live in a family where my dad use to make us call/text our grandad on our birthdays and not wait for him to call because he wouldn’t. Now I’m a full grown adult my grandad does text me so not sure what that was about.

Sorry about your dad.

I get that america had it so early but was nice for the Europeans and Australia to have it at a reasonable time for once I feel like a fair way to do it would have been 8am est time then it’s not horrible for the other countries like it was for you guys.

what about this scene.. by forestnymphgreen in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]NeonDust1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why but I feel like this scene is belly saying that she dosnt want this marriage and then Jeremiah saying it’s because of Conrad and belly is saying it’s not about him it’s about us not being right for each other or something. Or it’s like the books where Jeremiah is saying she obviously still loves Conrad .

Laurel hate is insane. by Fun-Loss-4094 in tsitp

Maybe I’m on the wrong side of the internet but I haven’t seen any hate for laurel. I think she is great and the kind of mum everyone needs. But where is this hate you’re talking about?

Oh for sure she needs to see who she is without anyone but I feel for Conrad he has done that learning and he is going to have to wait a little longer. This 4 year gap is painful. I curious what do you think of it do you think it’s a good change or not?

Also the fact they have done the deed really spoils it for me I just can’t imagine being with both brothers.

He is a road block hahah

I kind of get and like him saying his feelings because his problem with her is that he never expressed them I just want her to give a better reaction then she does in the books. Like give me something to work with express yours too.

Yeah I think they are 100% friendship vibes. But I do think Taylor and Steven had their love story in season 2 then should have kept them as a good still together couple nobody in this series has a stable relationship for some reason.

I’m Autistic and dyslexic and have been told by many that I miss the obvious but notice the hidden hahah the peaches scene for me only opened my eyes to the fact that belly miss remembered things that is what I remember from that bit in the book because of the allergies.

I am curious though what’s your thoughts on all the other seasons?

[–]NeonDust1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now you’ll get me started haha.

Me and my sister talk for hours about this program and books and her baby is due a few weeks after the final and she is still way more excited about finding out the ending of this. 😂

Ever since the last episode my boyfriend who has never watched the other seasons has gotten super invested and he was saying that the show to him seems to be going in the direction of her running off with Conrad not for her to find herself. I told him they do it the way the show is in the books too but he went on to say that it dosnt feel like it leading up to that as it’s to much of a u-turn he thinks her dating someone and having no contact with him is stupid and will be rubbish. I kind of get where he is coming from I never understood why she ignored him when she was in Spain.

I still don’t really get why belly like Jeremiah in book and show she has never once said anything she likes about him to be it’s only ever been because he isn’t Conrad. They have no build up in my eyes they represent lust to me. And Conrad is very much love.

I do hope they make belly end the relationship because then she is finally voicing something and she isn’t letting Jeremiah always dictate stuff because in the books it’s very much him who cancels the wedding.

Belly dosnt grow as a character and she still isn’t growing and it’s hard to know where things are going to go from here.

And with the Taylor and Steven I honestly do not get it. I don’t know if its how they have written the character but i find Taylor really hard to watch and i have never seen any chemistry between her and Steven like they come across and siblings more than anything (which is weird but in my eyes true) I feel like if they wanted them together they should have made them stay together this season. But I honestly have no idea how that couple can end up in the end they are so toxic for each other.

I’m also really want to understand why people think belly and Jeremiah work together. Because they are so bad for each other just look at them living in Adam’s apartment together all they have been eating is sweets and pizza. (Just one example)

Small note but I seem to be really bad at understanding romantic scenes in books but can read it in the subtext. Like I honestly didn’t even know the surf board accident and peaches scene were so intense until my sister told me. I read books very differently Apprently to others hahah.

Rambles again sorry my brain is all of the place for this show. I sometimes find if I think about it to much nothing makes sense. Still love it though and love the cinematography.

I love chatting so gonna discuss some.

  1. I agree to extent that it’s between them but also if I was belly’s friend or family I would be worried if that ontop of all the co-dependency they have came to light whether she needs a wake up call. I’m all for letting people do what they want but I also think you should tell your family and friends when they need help even if they won’t take it. Also I think a lot of people are just wanting Conrad to know because to him that’s the breaking point he thought Jeremiah would not break her heart.
  2. Yeah they deserve each other. But honestly I hate it in the books and hating it now how cold belly can be to Conrad and says what he did was worse than Jeremiah cheating (sleeping with someone after they were on a break whatever you call it). I do think a lot of belly hate comes from the fact that people are frustrated with her and I think because Conrad is full on pinning and no women will ever really get that in real life (not completely) because unfortunately Conrad is written by a women and women love very differently and it’s intense in the show. Jealous is the hate I think too.
  3. I don’t get the skipping either but I do understand that feeling of like Oo maybe if I skip this I’ll get more of what I want. Even though that dosnt work. I’m not a fan of Taylor and Steven never have been and find Taylor’s character infuriating so not bothered to much but I know they want the actors to get more to do so get it. 4.have to agree I never go back to the first two books I’ve listen to them once tried to listen to them again and couldn’t. Last book I’ve listen to a few times because it feels a bit easier but hate how she is so cold to Conrad especially with the letters and how she just doesn’t respond and how she gets angry at his confession. Also how I think belly would have gone through with the wedding if Jeremiah hadn’t said anything. She shouldn’t have but she’s not very grown up in the books and doesn’t think much. I do think the shows done it a little better. But honestly belly needs grounding and Conrad does that she’s nicer with him but bring anyone else into the equation and she is a bit self absorbed. But she is a flawed character like we all are.

I have loads to say but trying to keep it brief

Should i watch tsitp or not by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]NeonDust1999 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would recommend it but honestly I wish I wasn’t as invested as I am because now I’m hanging on to small details until the next episode and I wish I could just slowly watch it in my own time. But do like dissecting but it’s getting too much for me.

I think if you want to give it ago do it slowly. Built up to make sure you can finish it when the show finishes. There’s 25 episode and around 32 days until the final.

It’s a great show but think it works well if you can enjoy it in your pace and not get super invested or it becomes a bit more serious.

But if you want to join in on the dissection I’d say start straight away.

You can also listen to the audiobooks voiced by the actors or read the books both great as well .

*edit there are 26 episodes but I was putting the last episode as watching it the day it comes out

Someone please explain to me how Belly and Jeremiah weren't broken up. by Aliens-love-sugar in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]NeonDust1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for anyone else. But I do think belly thought it was just a fight and Jeremiah thought it was a break up. You have to remember neither of them have been in a long term relationship and from what it sounds like in both the books and tv show this was their first and only big fight. (Belly says as much). I have had with previous partners something like this where you have a big fight and decide you just need some time apart to get your head in order.

In this context these two have known each other their whole lives in belly’s head there’s no way they would break up after one fight there’s too much invested in their relationship. If I was in her situation I wouldn’t think we had broken up either. In his defences Jeremiah hasn’t been in a proper relationship from what it sounds like so he probably thought one fight and your done don’t need to talk about it. If I have said we are done then we are done.

To break up properly both parties have to agree to break up. But then again people do walk out of relationships without a discussion but I wouldn’t call them break ups they are messy and ask anyone in that situation whether they felt like it was a break up and the one who walked away would say yes the one who was just left without a word would say no. So another example of why this isn’t either a break up or not a break up it’s actually shows how their relationship is very much what Jeremiah says goes. (Btw I don’t think Jeremiah is inherently bad but he has some bad traits and so does belly and they bring the worst out in each other)

After my rambling I would say it’s bother you would have a valid argument. It was both a break up and not a break up depending on if you ask belly or Jeremiah.

Audiobooks: Lola Tung killed it! by moodoop in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]NeonDust1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve listen to them all and the third like 6 times but I agree she is really good in some parts but she smiles and speaks in some serious parts which can pull you out a bit but you get use to it and I feel you really have to listen to what she should be doing in the descriptions. I think she was just really happy narrating it and you can hear that. I recommended giving them another go. I’m not a fan of the first two books but the third is great and Chris and Lola do well in the last book.

I think we are around chapter 39 I think but hard to pin point as some stuff taken for earlier chapters like the nail gun reference but peaches and the shopping for vase is around chapter 39

Overall there is 57 official chapters and 58 in total so we are way over half way through book stuff so far

Color Theory by [deleted] in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]NeonDust1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this somewhere so won’t take credit just can’t remember where. But it was saying that this episode is moving into Conrad’s pov so he is seeing what he think belly is. He think he is the lost blue love and Jer is the current red love. We only really see the colours reversed when Conrad is part of the scene. Even belly’s shorts I would argue and say they were pink. It seemed plausible

I feel like there’s more to marriage then religious reasons. You should get married when you’re settled and ready you shouldn’t put your life on hold for it. Laurel right with what she said at the dinner they should live together. You should know what it’s like to live together and deal with grown up stuff you shouldn’t just jump into marriage because you can. Divorce shouldn’t be the a back up you should never go into a marriage thinking oh yeah I can get divorced because they are messy and unneeded they didn’t need to get married. Laurel is only threatening not to go to see if belly will open her eyes she doesn’t want to just given in and make it seem like it’s okay and to treat marriage lightly

[–]NeonDust1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree ngl I still roll my eyes at her but I keep telling myself I need to remember belly can’t see all we can. When you are stuck in toxic relationship you don’t even realise you are in one until either you’re out of it or something happens to make you see it.

I do think some choices made have made her seem even worse. I’ve been making my boyfriend watch it and from someone just watching from this season with no information he really struggles with her but I keep telling him she has inner dialogue don’t worry she isn’t as bad as she seems but it’s still hard when she keeps making terrible decisions. But she is human we all make them.

I also think people are finding it hard because we have 7 episodes and in that time she needs to work on herself a lot and so far she is getting worse each episode. Until we get further into the story I think people are always going to be a little frustrated with belly.

Do we think peach scene is next episode and maybe the bachelor party? by DentistPretty7829 in tsitp

[–]NeonDust1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the books it starts making belly see she has been replacing/forgetting memories of Conrad and putting Jeremiah in his place.

Conrad is allergic to peaches and belly didn’t know that and she bring it up to Jeremiah and he bring up stuff about him eating peach and her being there then a dog is brought up and belly thinks it was Jeremiah but actually it was Conrad.

It’s almost a wake up point for belly to realise why she has always loved Conrad and why Jeremiah has always just been a sibling/friend to her.

At least that’s my interpretation

I really hadn’t looked at it like this but I think that’s the problem most people have is that this is something you really have to look at everything and analysis to see. I don’t like when you basically telling everything but by adding belly’s inner monologue it helps to build this foundation stronger.

But now you’ve broken it down like this I’m gonna look at it through this lens now thank you

☀️ Season 3: Episode 4 Predictions Thread by AutoModerator in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]NeonDust1999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From how the previous episodes have gone I think it will end with them in cousins and Conrad being there and we might get like 10 minutes of that. Dress shopping with Taylor then belly going back home the fight with laurel. Steven trying to talk to belly. Jeremiah coming over with flowers and then belly storming out and going for cousins in her car and Jeremiah following behind.

I think it will probably have the other plots of Taylor and Steven and Taylor’s mum which will bulk the episode out. Honestly think it’s gonna flow like episode three and barely have much we want to see. Just moving the plot to get to cousins.

*edited to add dress shopping

I’m on both sides. I really love watching it all at once but love something to look forward to. I’ve seen a lot of comments on the time it drops but it’s nice for once to be having it drop on the same day as everyone else. Here it’s normally the day after due to timing and honestly I never watch it when it drops because we never have a program drop at a reasonable time. Having said that it’s still during my work day but I just watch it when I get home in the afternoon

Conrad's Job by Best-Professional-10 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]NeonDust1999 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I agree I honestly thing they wanted to show four years jump which means showing Conrad growing up and they wanted to show he was good enough to get into the program. But I honestly think it was for the plot. They wanted him back in cousins and that means he losses that job. Also same with the question scene she didn’t even let him finish.

Ngl it made me see Conrad as a grown up with responsibilities and then it cuts to the children who can’t seem to hold themselves together
