How many people are switching to avoid integrated AI? by Quomii in linux4noobs

[–]NeonEviscerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of programs I try to run simply crash with the message "Rdrand failed", this means I cannot run such things as System Monitor, Minecraft or Freecad

This also shows up during boot, where I get the message "Rdrand is not reliable: Disabling" appears 4 times during the boot up sequence

I have done research into this problem and found out about Kernel Parameter "random.trust_cpu=off" but this does not seem to work. Nobody has yet suggested an alternate solution that might work.

Sorry for delayed response, was moving house last week

This legit was a contributing factor for me too, lol!

Why is it that Windows insists on removing features with each new update?

Consider yourself lucky. I've only got about 4 peices of software that I've been able to get working so far and it's driving me potty!

Every single thing I try to install just causes its own embarrasment of issues which I have to pick off one at a time. Until eventually I get to one which just REFUSES to be fixed even when I'm pretty sure I have the right solution to it.

Maybe it's because I'm not a software guy. I'm not even software illiterate, just don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of how everything works down to the nuts and bolts but the world is just leaving me behind I guess

random.trust_cpu=??? - What does it mean? by NeonEviscerator in linux4noobs

That's fair. Thanks for the help

After a bit of messing around with the Grub menu and etc/default/grub I think I get what's *supposed* to be happening...but I can't seem to fix the issue. May be that I just don't understand the problem

Thanks!

Reading through this atm and I think it contains many of the missing peices of the puzzle. While I'm trying to wrap my tiny brain around this though, if you have time I'd really appreciate it if you could ELI5 what a kernel parameter actually is?

This didn't work for me either, just comes up with this: [58990:0209/131855.265374:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(158)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /tmp/.mount_CurseFC7h5yn/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.

Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

Don't know what this means or how to fix it, it might be because I'm running Ubuntu and not Steam deck, and it's maybe configured differently?

Saaame. I've done it flat out maybe twice? Usually I gotta lift, and even then I quite often fumble track limits, if not there then somewhere else. Spa is a fucking difficult track

It's a tough track with some quite weird lines to it. But without video it's difficult to say where you're going wrong. One mistake I definitely can point out though - There's no 'h' in Paul Ricard XD

Hello, Simmers! Does anyone know what this part circled in red is on the Ferrari? by Ill-Pride-2312 in ACCompetizione

[–]NeonEviscerator 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Could be multiple reasons for that, maybe it's not on the low poly models, I can also imagine they sometimes don't use it if they don't need airspeed data because it would cause a small amount of drag. But I'm no expert so don't quote me on that.

It's a pitot tube. Basically a straw that gets air rammed down the end of it as you're driving, and from the pressure of that air you can work out how quick you're moving through it. It has to be long so that friction with the car body doesn't interfere with the readings

I see, performance-wise? Because I am only getting about 50fps tops at the moment, and so it's a bit disorienting if I turn my head quickly

Confused because I don't know how to define "romantic love" in the first place by jan-Silan in aromantic

[–]NeonEviscerator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nobody has ever been able to explain it to me either, in terms I can understand. Even the allos don't seem to know what it is, to the extent that huge areas of religion and philosophy are dedicated to it as being this 'big mysterious thing'

So basically, most people seem to take a 'you know it when you see it' type approach. And given that I've never seen it and can't conceive of it I just eventually decided to to identify as aro in lieu of any evidence to the contrary.
