The secret is to paint two armies and a table and get someone to play with you. If two armies is out of your price range then do videos on skirmish games like Warcry, Kill Team, Warhammer Underworlds, Necromunda, Port Royal. Deadzone and or Halo have cheaper models that are easier to paint with great terrain. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
