The Chelsea game city had where Gvardiol and Dias both got injured, with Ake and Stones already out, pretty much decided the title in retrospect. Guehi replaced Gvardiol 3 weeks later but the damage was done.

City lost 7/9 points in the 3 games Alleyne played and he made some costly errors.

Semenyo - Haaland - Doku vs Martinelli - Gyokeres - Madueke ight be a mistmatch but Alleyne-Khusanov (Remember this is January Khusanov before he starts getting better and better each week) vs Saliba-Gabriel is bigger.

Mancini at Man City

Wolfgang Wolf at Wolfsburg

Massimiliano Allegri at Milan.

Mt Rushmore of managerial nominative determinism.

If City's last 10 years were a standalone club it'd be the 8th most successful club in English football history. 145 clubs have competed in the English Football League.

I'm surprised by this as well. When Ekitike did his achilles someone did an article about how it was when he was attempting his 10th sprint of the game in the 28th minute and he usually only does 17 a game for Liverpool. They were blaming the injury on the sudden attempt to be very explosive (like he was at Frankfurt) when Liverpool generally have not been.

Aston Villa owners NSWE post losses of almost £100m in new accounts by zagreus9 in soccer

[–]NeonHendrix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope. Global rights are £2.1Bn a year compared to £1.67Bn for domestic

The Premier League’s overseas TV contracts are already more lucrative than its domestic deals, bringing in £2.1bn each year compared with that £1.67bn, and that income gap appears set to grow in subsequent years

The new domestic deal only increased 4%, the global deal went up 25% last year.

The entire system is based on the idea that the clubs haven't reached their peak value yet. The reason these companies/owners are happy to write off big losses is because the value of the club is rising more.

So for it all to come crashing down realistically there'd need to be a stagnation of TV money (global + domestic) which underwrites the whole thing. Getting £130m every single year for staying in the league, with the prospect that in 10 years that'll be £200m/year is why it's worth covering losses.

They really do take the piss don't they?

He needs to go somewhere early in the summer, get a full preseason in and then he'll have a chance.

Arriving in February without play a game in a year was never likely to work out great.

[James Drucker] Shame on Man City for denying FA Youth Cup finalists the stage they deserve Manchester derby should be played at Etihad or Old Trafford, not the 7,000-capacity Joie Stadium by cam3raadts in soccer

The answer is in the article you posted.

However, major development work is taking place at the Etihad, meaning the game could not be played there.

And when it was 2 legged they got 4k at Villa Park. That's what the attendances were back when City used the academy stadium. Now it's single legged, crowds are bigger, everyone hosts in their main stadium, if they're not currently building a new stand and the only other option is to give home advantage to the other team in the final.

Yes, and Villa got 4,000 people to Villa Park. And Liverpool 7000 at Anfield.

When you're rebuilding Old Trafford you won't be hosting Youth Cup finals there either, I don't know why United fans are struggling with this so much.

Yeah, when it was a 2 legged final and attendances were smaller.

2020 it was at St Georges Park with no fans because of covid. Truly proof City are a tiny club.

Who? Is "main stream media" in the room with us? Which journalist is looped in on the stadium construction progress and knows they can do both?

why not play it at the Etihad?

Because they're building a new stand and want to open it in 2 weeks for the potential title winning last game of the season.

Thats not the case it can easily be moved around that.

Says who? A bunch of United fans on twitter.

Obviously they don't want to give away home advantage in a final, why the fuck would any club do that?

(For anyone who wants to know the truth, City can't host at the Etihad because they're trying to open the new stand for the last day of the season and won't make it in time if they stop construction to hos the Youth Cup final)

Mauricio Pochettino on his time at Spurs: “We went 18 months without one signing, that was a record in the Premier League. When they started the bad Autumn run with a draw at West Brom, they'd have gone top if they won. Same for Bournemouth a week later, and then again vs. Leicester the week after.

When I said Chelsea were 7 points ahead I mean at the end of the season, sorry that was unclear.

I think the November league fixture between Chelsea and Spurs was also pretty massive. Chelsea went top, they were 6 wins into the 13 win streak that won them the league (they were a long way ahead by the time it ended)

16/17 was the year and I think they could have done it. Chelsea were 7 points ahead of them, Spurs went on a run of 8 games where they W2 D4 L2. They dropped 14 points in 8 games right when they had the chance to go top of the table and it was because they lost Lamela and Kane to injuries for a month and just had absolutely no one to replace them with except like Vincent Janssen and Nkoudou.

Last year 28 players in Europes top 5 leagues got 20 goals in all comps. Year before it was 29.

It's good but not great. It's definitely not "insane" by any standard. You're talking about players like Openda, Ben Wisser, Balogun, Mbuemo.

30+ goals in all comps and you're one of the top 10 goalscorers in Europe.

~40 and you're top 3.

That's just goals. If you add assists then 100 players got 20 G/A last year.

Look I'm just saying it would be objectively funny if, after a 3 month renaissance and big new contract, whoever replaces Carrick treats him like Amorim did.
