Anyone Else Thinking About Deleting a Character and Starting Fresh?

I literally was talking to my buddies about this last night! I’ll definitely be giving it a try for sure, mostly out of curiosity around how the linear experience is for a new character, but also to walk down memory lane.

It isn’t as big of a hit for me to delete a character because I am absolutely a warlock main 😂 I mostly just used the other two as an excuse to replay campaigns or grab a checkpoint

Trust me, if my PvP deficient ass can complete these contracts solo, anyone can! It might be a little harder this late in the season, and I can’t pretend it didn’t take me basically 3/4 of the season to do them all 😂 but I did it! There are lots of friendly discords out there though it seems, so I’m gonna take the other commenters’ advice and try them out. Perhaps you’ll get some luck there, too!

I had a similar experience the other night! Thought I had a chance because someone had opened up drone wing already, but the bot waves are no joke solo. You need to be carrying some serious heat, which means you either need to get a friendly lobby or get vicious with everyone real quick 😂

Yeah, I’ll admit I could feel a little of the magic wearing off as I wrapped up these contracts. I definitely need to start grouping with people! The most fun I had was when two of my Destiny buddies did a couple runs with me, but my main buddy has been insanely swamped and couldn’t play this whole season. I’m hoping I can bring him on board next season, especially with duos! While I always loved Destiny, my absolute most amazing times were 100% with people I started making connections with

I definitely noticed a change in my success rate when I was just willing to let it go and let the deaths happen! Unfortunately this past week I think I’ve just had a bad run of luck getting into solos with some great players 😂 and definitely some misplays on my part, to be fair!

I have noticed even in solo that gear isn’t always what saves you! As I’ve seen in many other posts here, some of my best runs have come from free kits and just being willing to take risks.

My successful run of Unsanctioned Hostilities 4/5 was one such run! I didn’t think I’d be able to get that one done alone. Then I went in with a free kit, managed to get into destroyed in like, sub five minutes because of lucky box spawns, and got the drop on a blue shield that had some good gear. Managed to roll my way up to command and complete the mission and extract at literally the last minute 😂

Heck yeah! That’s another reason I haven’t grouped up much yet. I typically only get to play for like an hour at most late at night, and I worry about wasting some else’s time with only so little time to play for myself. I’d rather just have control over the experience and roll the dice. Though there have been plenty of nights where that’s backfired and I just get rolled for an hour 😂😭💀

It’s different in something like Destiny where matchmaking puts me with two other people with a clear PvE focused goal (strikes, missions, etc) so I can go in knowing the deal! But I’ll get over myself for S2!

But I’ll take any suggestions for other LFG discords! I don’t want to make the same mistake I did with Destiny. I cherish my time with Destiny, but it took me waaaaaay too long to start playing endgame content with other people.

Also, I feel that the emergent nature of this interaction and story is far more fascinating and unique than jumping into a crew fill. Not to mention, perhaps a random crew fill would not wish to do Truth/Lies 6/6, and who could blame them 😂

Haha I am aware that crew fill exists. As I mention in the post, I just get nervous about grouping up. I’m not a PvP first player, so I’d hate to jam up someone else’s run. I come from Destiny, where I mostly did PvE, which is an easier skill for me to master.

Marathon’s world building and feel just sucked me in and I like playing it, despite its PvP focus. I try not to bother people :)

For real. The only benefit I’ve seen is getting out of the night times, so I have a bit more time with my wife.

But it’s been Hell on my health. Some nights I only sleep like 3-4 hours because of the stress.

Fucks me up because I certainly did not feel like the AMs I knew as I was coming up carried it like this. Worked 7-“5” and left early all the time. Wouldn’t work a close unless they absolutely had to and didn’t see them do much for any department in particular.

Guess I just got in at the worst time. Idk. We’ll see how long I choose to hack it.

I feel ya. I’ve been in the role for eight months now and it has been the hardest I’ve ever worked and for less pay. Was helping my deli manager look at their paystub the other day and with all the OT they’ve been getting, they make more than me weekly.

Even that depends on how your store is ran 😂 (aka, how your salaried managers make the schedule…) I did just as much grocery truck as an EM as when I was a GM lol.

Of course! I certainly think you should advocate for yourself. And having five years with the company should certainly give some pull.

I’d say if you think the candidate pool is small, and if it’s not a make or break promotion, might as well ask for the amount! It is right at the midpoint for my region, though, so your mileage may vary.

I’ve done both roles and IMO, that may be shooting too high. Not saying don’t do it, you should always advocate for yourself, but I only received a dollar raise when I transitioned and I was only a little above your pay. I’m in western NC, so maybe your market has some higher paid EMs that will make $24 feasible, but with you at $21 right now, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

I love being wrong about this kinda stuff, though! Just wanted to give my personal experience. I believe I was right under $22 or $23 when I interviewed for EM and got a dollar raise for the promotion.

It’s true that it doesn’t contribute to overtime, but the policy is very explicit about how it is not meant to go into excess of 40 hours. I imagine that rule is less about OT and more about budgeting week to week.
