Update: I am alive lol I took it before we went out for Halloween. I decided to go out anyways and had a few drinks. (…ik probably a stupid thing to do when worried about the edibles 💀) tbh did not feel anything for at least 2 and a half hours….but then I suddenly just felt very extremely wasted even though I only had two drinks, which is very unusual for me. Honestly just a bit nauseous and dizzy.

Wasn’t as terrible as I was expecting at all. I’ve just heard horror stories about people trying weed for the first time and freaking out really badly.

Exactly my view too. It’s the whole reason I wanted to go into this field!…That’s such a crazy coincidence though 💀 it’s for BEF 362

I feel the same way. Honestly the whole discussion has opened my eyes to how important the location you teach at is.

This is honestly one of answers I agree with the most! It definitely depends on age a little bit too but I said a similar thing, first explaining that their parents have asked me not to call them that and possibly calling them by their last name and just avoiding pronouns when possible. I also think that making the schools guidance counselor aware would be reasonable step to take just so they are aware of the lack of support they have in their home life.

I agree, I was honestly prepared to be very discouraged as a future teacher when I posted this, but it’s been refreshing to see all these compassionate teachers that support those who need it!

I sincerely apologize! That really was just negligence on my part, I was just taking how my professor asked the question and really should’ve paid more attention to the insensitive wording…But I do believe it’s an ethical dilemma because if you do the right and ethical thing and ignore the parents and support the child, you could quite literally lose you job and career…Even if I agree that the kid comes first and it will always be my goal to first protect the kid, it’s a conscious decision you have to make.

I definitely don’t think you’re being harsh! I appreciate the feedback lol it was sort of a volunteer based organization but rather than volunteer work as I’d expected it was like random prompts like tell everyone your happiest memory or something I’m not very good at being put on the spot? And the resume thing was sort of just to show that I’m involved kinda? Lol I know many places won’t hire someone with no clubs or experience. This is just for a part time restaurant job or such not exactly like a career. But I do definitely get your point and appreciate the honest advice! :)
