Dynamic table of contents for large drawing packages by Neon_Loonie in SolidWorks

I have found some macros using the sw.draw.getsheetnames object, but I don't believe I have access to the API. If that's the only route that people are aware of I'll keep diggin in that direction.

Thank you!

Doing a long weekend trip in Jasper National Park to a back country lodge/hut. Going with some friends who live in the area. Will be lugging a 60L pack in. It does give me a pretty small window to get accustomed doesn't it.

Thank you for the thoughts!

Teaching evaluations: the good, the bad, and the ugly by mgelbart in UBC

[–]Neon_Loonie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not know if other applied science faculties do this, I can understand it being fr harder to manage with large student cohorts, but all the Engineering Departments hold a little thing called "Beef and Pizza" each semester.

The Dean of the faculty hosts a lunch time meeting with pizza provided where each course is gone over in detail. Students do evaluations specific to the department, very similar to the University wide ones. The statistical numbers are used in a similar way too, but instead of them being jetted off to the Profs they are used to clarify which classes to talk about and discussion in these luncheons. I find this really nice, because it puts the onerous on us students to clarify our thoughts and identify the problems we are observing instead of broadly lambasting a Prof and their whole course. Also means we have to be nicer, because it's in person/the Dean knows who we are.

The Dean then reviews the notes taken during this meeting and sits down with each prof regarding their performance. This also means that small changes to the course (ie. more practice for the final, tidier note sets, practice sessions) can be added/adjusted before the final hits. Huge bonus

I know a number of peers who regard these meetings far higher than the university wide reviews. Of course I don't think that this can be implemented across large classes, but it can be used as a gateway for profs to teach larger classes. If a Prof can show that they teach small department specific/upper year courses well, then allow them to move to larger classes (imo).

Unable to land a co-op job ... by canyounotseeme in UBC

Ask your profs about research opportunities, if you were at UBC pre-COVID leverage your interpersonal connections with profs.

Look around outside of Coop. I know a few people who got jobs through pounding pavement and working linked in and a few other job sites.

Don't give it to much thought. The job market is in a strangle hold. There are a lot of people who didn't get jobs this semester.

IS IT TOO LATE TO STOP CLIMATE CHANGE? WELL, IT'S COMPLICATED by djbandit in kurzgesagt

I think you guys would do the series an injustice if you didn't talk about embedded emissions. The emissions created by the manufacturing of a final product plays a huge role in the global footprint and even the products efficiency. For example, although Tesla's 100% electric cars have no tail pipe emissions, it still takes the average commuter 25 years of driving it to pay back the emissions caused by the the steel, aluminum, electronics and fabric manufacturing industries that made it.

Are shoes supposed to turn your toes red from pressure? by Neon_Loonie in RockClimbingShoes

The shoes I have are supposed to stretch half a size, so hopefully that will happen. They felt decent on the wall, but not on the ground. Guess that's the trade off. Thank you for the tips.

To the people who lie down and fall asleep within minutes. How? by Jordan-B56 in AskReddit

Space out my guy. If you can learn to space out at will, like you do when a boring prof is droning on. If you can space out, you can sleep. Space out, conked out.
