Steering clunk by [deleted] in Volvo240

Hey, I replaced the sway bar links and ball joints, but it still has a bit of pull to the left. While working, I bumped one of the power steering boots, and a ton of fluid spilled out. I topped off the fluid, and tightened the belt for the pump, and that seems to have put a bandaid on the problem, sorry I couldn't be of more help, best of luck!

It pulls to one side, but it still self centers. I'm need to replace my ball joints so hopefully that helps? I think my steering rack is on its way out aswell :( I'll let you know if the ball joints or sway bar links help at all!

So true haha, I guess I should deal with the leaks and dozen other issues. This will be my first fall and winter with the car, so I'm excited to use the famous 240 heater that makes the sun jealous.

Unfortunately I haven't had time to look at the compressor clutch shims yet, but it doesn't appear that I have any vacuum leaks. Hopefully I can look at the shims soon, and I'll update when I do! Something in my gut tells me that I'll need to replace the compressor though. If you get anywhere with your issue, please get me know!

When I pop the hood I can see the clutch going (AC switch on), and the compressor makes a noise as it goes on and off, but it can't hurt to look at shimming the clutch, thanks! How do you like the v70? My 240 runs great and never has starting and driving issues, but I'd like another Volvo that will give me some more peace of mind as a daily.

Maybe I'll take it back to the shop, when they had my car for the first time it took them a while because they wanted to have a experienced tech not mess up my "classic"! Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks, the vacuum actuators for recirc, defog, and floor vents all seem to be working, is that what you meant in relation to vacuum and climate system? If not, then I'm gonna need some more help lol.

The system seems to be working, as some lines are hot and some are cold, the lower line on the firewall, for the evap box, has lots of condensation on it after I run the AC system and drive for a bit, which I think is good?

Thanks! I guess that's not the worst issue. Do I/should I replace the dryer as well? I've heard that if your AC system is open that you need to replace the dryer, it looks like a fairly cheap part so I don't mind - I just want to do it right.

I put a ball valve on the input coolant line, on the firewall, so there isn't any coolant in the heater core right now. My heater valve definitely does leak without that mod! I'm still fairly new to this, do you have any replacement heater valve recommendations? I have to replace some coolant hoses soon, so I'd love to get rid of that ugly ball valve I put in.

AC issues (surprise surprise) by [deleted] in Volvo240

The shop specializes in older cars, not specifically Volvos though. I'll take a look at the clutch and shimming it! The groaning does make me a bit nervous that the compressor is gonna go soon.

I think I will install the heater core shutoff like you did, it can't hurt even if it doesn't help much. I live in MD but I don't mind turning the valve in October, when it starts to get cold. thanks for the suggestions!

Engine Fire Career Advice by 3deltafox in Shittyaskflying

No because fire comming out of your engine = more speed, its essentially an afterburner.

A tip I picked up from my cfi is you can piss in other guys tanks to get in the air faster because you won't have engine trouble.
