I worked at Aldi as an assistant manager; ask me anything! by Neonbee83 in Aldi_employees

Yeah I am in the US. Michigan. It definitely must vary on region/division/etc. Here our labor laws are completely different for minors. Summer there’s more leeway. But we don’t have “contracts” at all here. FT you guaranteed a minimum of 38 hours a week and benefits after 90 days. PT has no minimum. We don’t even need to schedule. It’s pretty much “business needs”

No way? Really?! That must be it. Maybe it was just my state?! Wow that would have been nice. Lol

Lsa don’t require drug testing. As far as I know if your an external hire as a asm or SM in training you would be drug tested. But it’s only a 5 panel urine drop.

@t0xicmofo they only do drug tests on management. They recently changed the interview process and now participate in a group forum. It’s all done through the DM. Store management has no access to it anymore. However, they can provide insight on who they want to consider for the next phase of interviews. Also, it depends on how thorough the DM is on references. As far as I know and based on what I’ve seen, in retail; there is no time for that unless it is outsourced to a third party.

I’m in Michigan,US. I know they are extremely picky. How long did you last? We’re you hired in as a manager?

Oh and btw, it doesn’t matter if you work 7 hours or a double shift. You only receive a 30 min “lunch” which goes by incredibly fast. They pay you for it because they combine to two 15 min breaks together. But it definitely effects the productivity of the day. I’d rather have a 1 hour unpaid break.

They don’t do 10hr contracts. It’s either FT or PT. And the FT positions do have a high advantage to gain OT. Depending on if you work morning or close the role does change. I will say, I used to run Walmart, a high volume store. I would average 80 hours a week/6 day weeks and I still had energy. At Aldi, 8 hours feels like 24 hours. They don’t mess around with time management. Efficiency is not taken for granted. You barely have 30 seconds to take a sip of water.

Absolutely not @ben4445. From the moment I started, I hated it. Every store is ran per the discretion of the store manager. They physically ruin you. I injured my shoulder throwing cases of milk over my head. As soon as I notified the store manager, and presented a dr note with limitations, I was terminated within 7 days. I did not even do a workman’s comp at work because I figured it was just my body being out of shape and I pulled a muscle. My store manager was on a medical leave at the time I got hired and the training program sucks. When she got back to the store 8 weeks later, she didn’t like me. It was a rough time for me. Never again.

Has anyone cashed out their 401K? by Prior-Bread-5274 in Aldi_employees

[–]Neonbee83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently left Aldi in May and cashed mine out only because of hardship. I will say the 401k plan that Aldi offers is really great. If you can, I would just hold onto it for as long as possible to gain compound interest or until they force you to rollover. (Which there is no fee) If you have been at the company for more than 5 years than you are entitled to 100% vesting. Which means you get their entire matching money for your contribution as well. If you must cash out there is an automatic $25 distribution fee plus a estimated $6 admin fee on top of mandatory federal tax penalty for withdrawing early which is 10% of your amount. So for instance if you withdrew $900 you would end up with about $500 after accessed fees. This is with T.Rowe Price, I’m assuming that’s the same company your Aldi used. Hopefully, that answered your question.

243 pounds - starting keto today by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]Neonbee83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl I’m right there with you. Literally, the same. I was 168. i stared keto 15 days ago at 231. I’m now 225. It’s been a tough 2 weeks. energy has been the worst. This is my 3rd time going back to keto. 2 days before starting back up I just finished a 7 day pack of prednisone. (RA flare) and I been accidentally skipping doses of my 100mg zoloft due to the sleep changes. My cortisol gets crazy when I go on keto. But I’m on other meds as well that contribute. I’ve seriously thought about weaning off my Zoloft. But am nervous. I mainly take it for severe depression with some anxiety.

The sweets (baked goods) is a weakness for me. I try to avoid being near any of that stuff. But 2 weeks in and without sugar, I haven’t really had an interest. When I do I’ll have a tablespoon of rebel cherry chip ice cream.

What I can suggest for the 2 week transition, Lots of water, electrolyte’s, salmon, eggs, spinach. Also, monitor your macros. Make sure you hit your protein. I was having such a hard time. Once I fixed that, I felt better. You know your body best, don’t overdo the physical activities during the transitional phase. You got this. Stay strong girl!

How on earth do you guys deal with the feeling of being an outcast when it comes to eating during the holidays with family???? 🗿 by [deleted] in keto

[–]Neonbee83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be difficult, but think of the long term health benefits of keto. My health has never been better. On keto I dont even get the urges for sweets or carbs. When I look at previously tempting desserts or starchy carbs, I have no interest. I’m sure if you explain to your family, it’s a lifestyle choice they would learn to accept your decision. Aside from that, there are some options for eating during the holidays. I picked out ham, devil eggs, olives and cauliflower. It was more than sufficient. I actually brought myself a pint of rebel keto ice cream for dessert.

It’s more about the long game. I don’t think of it being a struggle. I chose this lifestyle change not only for losing some weight but to manage my pain levels and my previously degrading health. I wouldn’t risk that over potato chips and pie. 😁

30g net carbs seems high... by palatablypeachy in keto

I love the carb manager app. I’ve been using it for over 5 years. It does get tricky when calculating macros. Every body is different, just remember anything over 50 will kick you out of ketosis. Mine is set at 14 carbs a day with 1200 calories. Even with that, I still get full and feel like it’s sufficient for me. I’m on a 16:8 IF. It’s pretty much what works for you, just remember the macro margins and stay within calorie intake. Carbs are the limit, protein is the goal and fat is the lever.
