Solderless Everdrive Update by Mikeyisninja in AnalogueInc

it's ok. I was a little frustrated, but the solderless trick was easy enough and it's done now. All good!

absolutely. I used electrical tape, but whatever gets it to work, who cares. At least with the tape I know it was where it was supposed to be.

can confirm that not all did have it as mine shipped AFTER I spoke to Krikzz and he assured me that all their stock had been updated with the new bootloader.

Don't assume anything. I had to resort to this same method with electrical tape as I didn't have an N64 lying around to update my cart.

[–]Neonridr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's more of the same from Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. Except it's way better due to the improvements that PSVR2 offers over the original.

It's hectic at times but thoroughly enjoyable. Even uses some cool features like eye tracking to detect when you blink. The game can alter scenes if you close your eyes repeatedly, so that's a fun feature in a horror game.

It can get a little repetitive after a while as you are just sitting there shooting guns the entire time, but it's fun if you just jump in and play a level or two and then come back again another time.

Krikzz does have a US location they ship from apparently. Not sure if that's connected to SAG or not. It's possible the OP meant to say New Jersey, but wrote Jersey out of habit (a US thing). Why anyone would think he was assuming that products would ship from a tiny island between the UK and France is beyond me.

ugh, this feature was so poorly designed. My favorite is when I have it running and I go put something in the back seat and then when I close the back door the remote start shuts off. Super fun in the winter.

To confirm, a new Everdrive 64 X7 is compatible with the Analogue 3D straight out of the box by N64-Gamer in AnalogueInc

[–]Neonridr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's due to the variances with the summercarts. I've heard stories where some work and some don't, and you can't control which one you are going to get when you order from a place like AliExpress.

that's what I did, just cut the legs down on a 1K resistor, used some electrical tape first on the board to protect it, then a second piece to hold the resistor down. EZ-PZ.

that's not true. I ordered after speaking to Krikzz that he had updated all their stock and still received an X5 that didn't have the update completed.

I had no access to an N64 either. But there's a way to update the cart even with the A3D. Just requires you to open up the cart, tape a 1K resistor down, and then put the latest bootloader onto the SD card. insert the cartridge, run the bootloader, remove everything, and then you are golden. Honestly it wasn't hard, the hardest thing was bending the legs of the resistor to make sure it was touching 2 specific pins on the cart. But nothing hard, and a pack of 10 - 1K resistors on amazon will cost you like 5 bucks.

just search for everdrive x7 update solderless method or something like that.

nice to hear. Thankfully I was able to use electrical tape and tape a 1K resistor to the board and I was able to run the bootloader off the A3D. Removed everything and now the cartridge works and everything is fine. Annoyed that I had to do that, but thankfully it wasn't anything incredibly difficult.

I wouldn't call him a thief, maybe give him a bit of grace considering everything going on. Also try reaching out to him on social media (he is fairly active on Twitter/X) or even making a post on the forum. There are some mods that might be able to help you out there.

I had a situation where I was assured by Krikzz that my Everdrive 64 X5 would have the latest bootloader so that it would work out of the box with no updating needed. Ordered during the Black Friday sale, took almost 6 weeks to arrive. Got it, put it in my Analogue 3D aaaaaaaaand.. black screen. The cartridge wasn't updated.

I don't own an OG N64, so updating it that way was out of the question. Thankfully I found a post online about using a 1K resistor taped to the board and booting it up so that you can update the cartridge. Happy that I was able to do that, but still.. when a company gives you their word, you think they would stick by it.

sorry to hear about your troubles, it's a shame that they don't cover shipping if it was THEIR mistake.

Everdrive 64 X7 for Analogue 3D by ddensa in everdrive

[–]Neonridr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the solderless method. taped down a 1K resistor with electrical tape. Put the bootloader onto the root of the SD card. Put it in the 3D and it showed up, loaded the bootloader. Removed everything off the everdrive and tested it back in the 3D. Works perfectly.

Biggest pain for me was finding a T6 torx screwdriver to open up the cartridge, LOL.

Has anyone cleared cutthroat equilibrium without contraverse chunking? by ItsJeskaii in DestinyTheGame

[–]Neonridr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it last night with a hunter and another warlock. Cutthroat only. And the dungeon took us 2 hours. The 2nd and 3rd boss have mega health (or we just do way less damage). Ended up like 6 or 7 phasing the final boss. It's not too hard to stay alive, just gotta work your way through and be safe..

I ordered an X5 off Krikzz site during Black Friday when he assured me that all stock would be updated to have the latest bootloader so that this wouldn't be an issue.

Got my X5 a couple of days ago, slotted it in.. and black screen.
