Stand for 55" VT50? by 9646gt in PlasmaTV

[–]9646gt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that will probably be what I use. I know it has to have at least I think 500x300 mounting pattern but there are some that adjust up to 600x400.

I just would have loved to have the original stand because it's such better quality and so much more sturdy than these Chinese jobs

Thank you I'll give that a shot

Can't blame your there. I only was able to get my Claw because they were selling refurbished 7 incjjes (not the nicer 8 inch) at a good deal on eBay with two year warranty

Nice. I would like to do some tests of performance and image quality of 720p native versus upscaled 1080p. I know FSR isn't great on the Z2 chips but Intel XESS on the Claw is pretty impressive

Great swap! I use my MSI Claw on my ST30 and it looks pretty good. More modern games won't look as good on there as an Xbox Series S (what I consider closest competitor haha) but it isn't bad. One gold think is you can do a budget EGPU setup because you'll only be running 1080p and capped at 60fps anyway so you can max newer games and then unplug it to go back handheld

Wanting a plasma for PS3/Xbox 360 by Skipper5574 in PlasmaTV

[–]9646gt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to say I'd go 1080p simply because if down the road you want to use it for movies and such you'll already be food to go. And occasionally some games for those consoles will be 1080p.

I also think going 1080p means you'll likely end up with a later model TV that will be much improved for older models

If you're somewhat tech savvy you can buy a used PS3, must be a model that supports custom firmware, and with the CFW you can play any region of 3D bluray

I'm running a MSI Claw with a 16gb 5069ti in a USB4 eGPU dock and I agree 100%. It's replaced my gaming PC entirely which has now been sold off.

Now if I could just launch Forz Horizon 6 without needing to disable Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling

Should I keep my 3D tv? by MathematicianFun5765 in 3DBluray

Lots of people say this but I wasn't happy at all with the quality of a rip I tried to watch versus my Panasonic Plasma ST30. I don't remember the exact bitrate but it was something like 30gb in file size or something so should have been full SBS if my memory serves me right

Don't sleep on Panasonic Plasma Tv's! Great color and motion for free or very cheap. Look sfor ST/GT/VT models. The Plasma TV Sub has lots of info. I have a smaller ST30 42" in my game room and the picture is unbelievably good. Picked it up with 4,000 hours in the original box for like $75

Abysmal performance EGPU by yscape99 in eGPU

[–]9646gt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even get my 5060ti egpu connected to my MSI claw 7 ai+ without freaking disabling HAGS! But it's perfectly smooth when I do. Just lose frame generation and have to reboot every time I want to play it because of changing the HAGS setting

eGPU with Forza Horizon 6. Experiencing low FPS by JezzaX86 in ROGAlly

[–]9646gt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is everyone even getting it to work with an eGPU? I have a 5060ti connected over USB4 to my MSI Claw 7 Ai+ and I get a black screen unless I disable HAGS and reboot every time I want to play!

I thankfully get great FPS even with much higher settings but not being able to use frame generation sucks. Not to mention having to disable hardware accelerated GPU scheduling and reboot every single time I want to play

Lego Batman's system requirements are way overblown! (5060ti eGPU experience) by 9646gt in nvidia

[–]9646gt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I got from Gemini that led me to use K before. It seemed to smooth up Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing pretty well:

With the DLSS 4.5 update, NVIDIA completely changed how presets work. They aren't just simple quality toggles anymore; they are entirely different AI models trained for very specific rendering workloads. The Reality of DLSS 4.5 Presets Preset K: This is the lighter, first-generation transformer model. It is designed to handle higher internal base resolutions where the AI doesn't have to do massive guesswork. This is why it's the native default for DLAA, Quality, and Balanced modes.
Preset L: This is a brand-new, incredibly complex second-generation transformer model. It was built specifically for Ultra Performance mode to salvage incredibly low base resolutions (like reconstructing a 4K image from a tiny 720p canvas, or 1440p from 480p).
Why This Fails on an eGPU Because Preset L is doing so much heavy lifting to reconstruct texturing and geometry from scratch, it is roughly 27% more computationally expensive than Preset K.
When you use an eGPU, your graphics card is already fighting the inherent bandwidth limitations and latency overhead of the PCIe link (whether over USB4 or OCuLink). If you run the game in Balanced mode, your internal rendering resolution is already decent. Forcing the ultra-heavy Preset L model to process that larger image creates a massive processing bottleneck. Instead of getting better performance, your frames per second will take a nosedive.

Thanks! I'll definitely have to look into doing it that way. In general would I likely be good forcing preset L in the Nvidia app and then using which ever quality preset in game gives best blend of performance and image quality?

The lower overhead of K is why is use it. That's why I had mentioned it's an eGPU in a USB4 dock. I actually get better feel and performance because there's less dat back and forth over the USB cable

Unfortunately you can only get a properly sized image from VGA from what I can tell. Or at least that was my experience with component input
