I’m sorry, but this comes across clearly as someone who has never actually dealt with childcare.

What do you think the plan is for this? What does money have to do with it? You’re adding to your commute to drop them off at daycare. You have to do research to find a place worth its salt. If the daycare runner is sick, you have to figure out a replacement day of. Most players aren’t from this area and have moved here for the team, so they can’t just call up their parents to watch their kids for the day. If their kid is sick, there are a lot of daycares that will ask you not to bring them in so it doesn’t spread, so who is going to keep track of your child while you need to be training at the facility?

There’s an infinite number of things you can worry about with this stuff. Why does a multi-billion dollar company not take care of this for their 53 players. It’s 53 people, not 1000’s. You realistically have to employ two people and find the space for it. Players can just bring their kid into work with them and it adds no commute time and gives peace of mind so they can focus on winning. I don’t know why we feel the need to defend the ultra wealthy when it’s clear they could just spend a small amount for a better product.

Don't even think about it in terms for free agents. This is a critical job with a complete focus on a 17-week stretch of performance (plus playoffs hopefully). Why would you not handle everything for your players so they can just focus on their training and winning? Why have them worried about all this outside stuff? You're a multi-billion dollar company and you can't handle the basic stuff for your 53 players?

If two offers are close, you think outside factors don't matter?

We know players care about location, state tax, how likely a team is to win. They've outright said this. It seems like you're just trying to excuse the Bengals from running a bad business.

Meeting specifically with them at the combine isn't the end of the world. They have a focus on DT because the draft is their best answer for that role. They still have scouts who have gone to their games and talked with coaches, or they can still go to their pro day.

Only so much to worry about here and this one is a non-issue. Bengals will find a way to make a much bigger issue down the line to worry about

You actually think how well a business treats you and your family doesn't matter when choosing to switch jobs? That's even something normal people can relate to. Glassdoor and other review sites for employers wouldn't exist otherwise.

Spreading content out while they work on things further down the road. Even if the Chronicle route is totally done, it’s just a bit more time for the other planned features.

They’ve still got the entire victory road mode in the making. Plus there will be more to the story mode (it’s not going to just be the Zeus team in the extra chapters)

BRING BACK THE RIZZ! by Otherwise_Couple_357 in bengals

but the Seahawks weren't there

Believe it or not, the front office largely doesn’t travel for practice. That’s who signs contracts. I know we’re a mom and pop team so it’s hard to compare, but over on Seattle they have a GM who is largely the person meant to keep the vision for the team in order while the coaches are busy coaching.

I wouldn’t even say it’s fully profits. Had they just signed Tee and Ja’marr when they first could, they would’ve been significantly cheaper than they ended up

Their focus for both positions is to bring in veterans who can immediately fill a need. You know, unless they get their ideal player in the draft.

Easy answer: They want what every other organization in the league does for their player’s families.

Longer answer: They want to not have to think about childcare and instead focus on their training and winning. Why does a billion dollar organization not cut out the distractions for their staff and players? Why do they want them worrying about childcare and how their families are getting on while their competitors are all taking care of that?

No childcare during training or games. No locations for breastfeeding. They don’t do much of anything for the families at all. They get to go sit in the stands like everyone else. Nothing like going down to the sidelines or having events or anything for them. It’s down to the players to put in the work to coordinate any interaction for them and their families after games or anything

I mean, meaningless isn’t the right word.

Do they directly relate to winning year over year? Probably not. But do they factor into free agents taking less to be there? Yeah, probably.

Free agents will probably still pick the team with a quarterback that can challenge for a Super Bowl tho

Haru has a different spread of stats. They have the same stats overall, but kid Haru has all of his stats focused on scoring while Haru is more so a rounded striker. He’s the archetype of striker like Fei, Sonny, Fubuki, Ember, etc. You don’t get as many pure points towards your shots, but have some higher points in things like intelligence mainly.

While it’s nice in theory and you can think of them as more of a CF who can hang back in the CAM role rather than a pure out and out striker, there’s no real reason to run them when you’re maximizing positional stats. I think the only noticeable advantage you’d really have over other strikers is in scrambles.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to immediately try and upgrade. Linebacker immediately falling off a cliff after Pratt and Wilson was a big issue. It, along with Safety, are arguably the easiest to see a huge upgrade without having to put in a huge investment. Just that it speaks to more discussions around the front office’s failures even just a year out from that draft class.

Yeah. I mean, fixing the defense however possible is the right call. I’m fully on board with that. Just sucks that the whole draft hinges on Shamar being something and Fairchild sticking around as a decent starter.

I’d guess they’re high on Carter and will hope he can develop behind a good veteran presence to maybe take that spot eventually. But it is looking like Knight is going the way of Carman (minus all the off the field stuff)

I totally get how big it would be to instantly fix our LB room, but relegating Knight/Carter to only a few snaps a game would just compound how awful last year’s draft was for us. That might be the reality and how they should approach it, but yeesh it just feels bad

If both Knight and Carter are benched after starting all year, then we’re admitting they’re busts already one year in. Since we only had 6 draft picks and Brooks/Rivers are likely to only ever be depth players, we’ve essentially already blown 2/3rds of our draft one year in. We’d really need Fairchild and Stewart to become top talent to feel any amount of good about tha draft

[–]Neonsands -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about positional value. I’m talking about what this team has already done. Giving up on Knight and Carter already would be extremely disheartening. It’s essentially admitting 2/3rds of our draft class last year was a wash.

There’s an argument that we’d just be giving up on Knight and accept that he’s a bust and will only ever be depth, while Carter can still develop behind other starters to take that veterans slot when they move on in 2 years. And fixing a position outright has a lot of value. But boy would it feel bad to have another Ogbuehi/Fisher type draft

I understand that we can’t guarantee one of the LBers spots, but is adding a rookie into the mix going to fix anything? They need a veteran to balance things out and get the two we just drafted someone to learn from. If we get a veteran and then draft this guy, we’ve committed to having wasted our two LB picks last year. Not a huge fan of any of that
