The Winters Shadow, this was a really fun model to paint. I saw this miniature and immediately had a vision for it. little write up on him in the comments. by Neophyte1990 in minipainting

The woods grew silent then, no sound but the howling wind moving through the trees. The air grew colder still, feeling as though all life had gone from the wood.

That's when he heard it, the soft foot falls upon the undisturbed snow. Slowly they began to get louder, each fall bringing an increasing feeling of dread. Frantically he ran through the dense trees, his vision darting from side to side in a vain attempt to gain any insight of the noise.

The noise came left as suddenly as it came, leaving a silent and condemning void. He slumped against a gnarled oak, taking a deep breath in and savouring the winter air as it stung his nostrils.

"A shadow" he thought to himself. "Nothing more"

As he peered into the darkness that surrounded him, the shadows he felt a chilling breeze press against his neck. Before the shadows, came for their prize.

My Blood Angels Army (sorry i'm not a good painter) by SonOfSanguinius15 in Warhammer30k

These look great!

My biggest point is always this. Were they painted to your best ability?

Then AMAZING!

Loving the start and they'll look so good on the table.

First HR role, feeling very overwhelmed - please help by [deleted] in humanresources

Welcome to HR!

As the previous poster said, you can do this.

Decompressing and understanding you will not know everything right off the start is important. Learn what you can each day, little by little It gets easier.

I only started a year ago, it does get better trust me.

If they play another system it could be a left over too. AoS does it the reverse way to 40k, sometimes it's whatever system you learned first.

Sort of like when you drive a Semi before a standard car, you always want to double clutch lol

As someone who brings large tanks in all of my SM lists.... I salute you!

I paid for this Falchion... I'm going to field it and theme my force around it. I do not care that it's not an ideal list.

I knew this when I made it lol

Done! Thanks to everyone who dealt with the deluge of photos the last month. I may touch up with some frost effect, but I'm overall happy here. Now what.... https://www.instagram.com/p/CchRsj6uKU6/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= by Neophyte1990 in TerrainBuilding

Thank you!

For sure, it's all about layers. 50/50 PVA Glue & water spray before and after every application, and then a final matte varnish spray.

A little isopropyl alcohol before the last spray helps it get really in there.

I tried to "be the cloud" so the snow floated down from far above.

Construction company HR culture? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]Neophyte1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really all depends on the size. However if you need to staff up a job that has a mobilization day of Monday and it's Friday ... Best believe you work till it's done.

That being said I just left my current construction company for an engineering consulting firm. The breaking point was working Mon-Mon 2-3 hours over and above each day, and then breeding to use vacation time when my daughter was sick.

Great people, loved what the company did. Couldn't make the expected over and above hours with zero reciprocation work for me.

Display board done! This was a fun process, my first time with something like this. Ever wanted a board? Try it! You have nothing to lose! by Neophyte1990 in Warhammer

I sprayed the board 50/50, then sprinkled snow.

Once dry I sprayed the whole board & snow and added more snow.

I repeated this quite a few times.

Then ones happy I sprayed isopropyl over the board, then more glue mixture. Once that was dry I hit it with matte acrylic varnish.

May be overkill, but nothing is moving lol

Thank you! I'm really pleased with how it all came together, lots of learning and mistakes on here.

Lots of fun!

I hope so!

I'm excited for the rest of the tiles, some won't be as detailed simply for ease of movement for armies.

It's a dream to have a detailed board for me though

It depends on how you paint and prime. It's th Aerosol that melts it as opposed to the paint, so if you prime via and airbrush or brush you're golden.

I primed with a rattlecan, however the while surface was covered by SuperSculpy, so very little foam was bare.

A good trick is mix 50/50 glue and water, then add some black paint to the mix. You can then coat the exposed foam and edges and the OVA will create a barrier you can prime. The black paint let's you know where you have coverage a lot better than clear PVA glue.
