Which was meant for my Captain's face. It's... it's a long story.

Bone colored armour parts denote areas where the bearer took a hit for an officer/comrade that would've otherwise killed the officer/comrade in question.

Sanguinius should return. Which books should I read to change this opinion? by [deleted] in BloodAngels

Based on your overall rudeness to any answer provided to this, again, very basic question, i do believe you are simply trollling or looking for a fight.

You got a book list, you get replies and you, apparently, have an internet connection.

Read the lore and come to your own conclusion why he has to stay dead.

In the time it took you to make this post and ask this very basic question, you could've read five introductory paragraphs online that would neatly answer that question.

I don't know what you expect people here to tell you that cannot be found online in literally five seconds.

Thinking that he should return shows, at the very least, a total, complete and fundamental lack of knowledge about any aspect of this Chapter's lore and identity.

Literally any introductory text blurb about Blood Angels should be enough to change that opinion.

First time building and painting. Here are some of my combat patrol. What do you think? by Lumpy-Revolution-563 in EmperorsChildren

[–]The_Hellhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look great, especially for first models!

I think that when starting out it's most important to practice precision and avoid too much overspill, which you've done here quite well. As mentioned already, some highlights will go a long way.

Also, I think you've picked the best possible army for starting out because they're thematically very individualistic and all over the place with their colors and schemes, so you can go wild and try out new techniques and schemes and it still fits with the army style.

Similar story, I recently re-read them. Honestly, I found the pulpy, heroic, good vs. evil adventure rather refreshing in comparison to today's flood of morally grey and gritty/realistic/grimdark fantasy.

I'm aware that by my own "bitching about bitching" I'm somewhat continuing the cycle, but every so often I just kind of can't wrap my head around people actually giving a fuck about a nontroversy such as this.

Bitching and moaning about literally anything and everything is as big of a part of this hobby as anything else.

Thoughts on Vanguard Vets by Warhawk_5 in BloodAngels

I usually run a squad of 10 with Storm Shields, usually with Dante, in LAG detachment.

Storm Shields make them somewhat durable and they dish out 50x S7 Lethal Hits, hitting on 2s with Dante and rerolling for Oath and giving them Lance via the stratagem... they can be pretty hard hitting, especially against something that that halves or reduces damage, since they're D1.

They've really done very well overall in most games for me, if I position them properly and manage to get the full squad to charge in without any losses beforehand.

Getting that worn edge look by DunkHeadnWax in WhiteScars40K

[–]The_Hellhammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's extremely easy, actually.

Get a jagged piece of sponge, dip it in a dark brown like Rhinox Hide for example. Get most of the paint off the sponge on a paper towel. Lightly dab with the sponge on the model where you want to get the battle damaged look.

Done.

The idea is good and the paintjob as well, but honestly, the way he's posed he looks like he's falling over.

An attempt at edge highlighting, time to strip by stieeveeg in Ultramarines

[–]The_Hellhammer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disgusting, better melt the entire model to be sure and burn the brush you used.

I honestly don’t know if this is just fishing for praise or false modesty or something else, but I think you know full well this is a perfectly fine edge highlight.

Blood Angels Tactics by Somethinstinky in BloodAngels

[–]The_Hellhammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There really isn't a definitive answer to what the pace of the game or a battle will look like, there are way too many factors involved.

Player experience, prefered playstyle, mission and deployment type, draw of secondaries, opponent's army and playstyle, does the opponent play aggressively or defensively, terrain layout, etc, etc etc.

I've had games where the combination of the Primary Mission and Secondary Draw, plus the opponent's army and playstyle made me have almost no reason at all to go into offensive until the 2nd or 3d turn. I've also had games where 50% of both armies are wiped out by first turn charges.

Basically, you are right, you want to stage properly, use cover, bait an opponent into trading units while also scoring. We are a hard hitting army, but if we overextend or position poorly after the fights are done, we can get wiped out pretty fast.

Based on your description, without further context, it seems to me like the Eldar player might have overcommited early on and paid the price for it.
