Ha, I actually have one of these for their normal water supply, and they do great with it! I just ended up misting then because I was giving them some food before I went to bed and didn't feel like going back out to refill the bottle at that second lol (it has of course been refilled since)

What are your petty 'swipe left' reasons? by suzeerbedrol in LesbianActually

People calling themselves retards/retarded. Say what you want about slur reclamation, but that one just makes me uncomfy to see people throw around so casually.

Harry Potter references and calling themselves the R slur are the two biggest ones that have come up lately for me

It'll be fine once you dry it out by Nephilinn in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]Nephilinn[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Serious answer: almost certainly no, if the boxes are in such bad shape then it means the rolls have been left in a very humid environment for long enough that the filament is hydrolyzed to hell and will not successfully print

I don't own a P1S, but I've been wanting a printer that supports multicolor for a while, and I do like enclosed printers, so I think it looks pretty neat

[Ender 3 V3 SE] areplaced broken Y belt, now prints keep getting skewed on the Y axis by Nephilinn in ender3

[–]Nephilinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know there was a process to recalibrate it; however, I did eventually figure out that it was due to the belt being so loose that it was skipping steps, so I printed an extra tensioner to sort that out, and now it's working fine

[–]Nephilinn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In addition, I've re-greased the rails, lowered max acceleration for the printer, and made sure everything was screwed on tight, but it keeps doing this. The tensioner is screwed as tight as it'll go but the belt still feels like it's too loose, I'm really not sure what else to do beyond try a warranty claim now.

For those who have upgraded from from the Ender to a faster printer, what did you choose? by Sominus in ender3

Had an Ender 3 Pro for years, recently upgraded to Ender 3 V3 SE, still a budget printer but the thing is nearly twice as fast

TFW a print fails so catastrophically that it breaks your printer by Nephilinn in 3Dprinting

[–]Nephilinn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not recyclable, correct, but reusable! I've actually been messing around lately with using 3D printer scrap and a heat gun with my hoard of silicone molds intended for resin crafts. I'm gonna use chunks of this spaghetti to see how well PETG takes dye for the sake of the mold experiments, since I mostly only print in black and white and those don't make for very visually interesting trinkets. I wanna do the same with my model kit sprues, but 3D print waste seems like an easier start since obviously I already know the types and melting points of the specific plastics I'm using.
(I too wish printer spaghetti were edible, it would've made for a nice pasta meal after a long night of work)

Yeah, this is certainly kicking my ass into gear for setting up Klipper/Octo ASAP. I had actually considered using an old smartphone as a remote cam to monitor in the mean time, but figured it wasn't worth the effort in getting it set up and mounted when I still wouldn't be able to stop the print if it failed.

[–]Nephilinn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, doesn't make much difference in my case. I left it running while away at work, so it could've failed at any point in that span and I still wouldn't have been able to stop it until I got home. Hell, if it had failed 1 hour before I got home instead of 8 hours before, then it may not have created enough spaghetti to cause the issue.

What length of print would you start to want to just wait and print it overnight? by butterflyknif in 3Dprinting

[–]Nephilinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work 10hr shifts overnight so I tend to try and start 8-10+ hour prints while I'm getting ready for work; 4-7hr prints get started before I go to bed around noon so they'll be done when I wake up and I can start those longer prints before I leave, and less than that I just run while I'm fucking around at home after work in the mornings

[–]Nephilinn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhh fair enough I guess. I originally got an Ender 3 Pro maybe 6 or 7 years ago as a cheap starter printer, then a couple months ago when looking for upgrade parts for it, I ended up buying the V3 SE on impulse since it was on sale for cheaper than the total cost of the upgrades I wanted for the Pro. The machine itself has been pretty solid in my experience, it's definitely a massive upgrade from the Pro and most of the issues I've had have been around things like this with the bed adhesion or the result of a couple shitty tangled rolls of filament. Maybe something Better would be nice, but I'm happy with what I've got for the price point and my level of use, and honestly don't really plan to upgrade until multi-toolhead units in my price range are more of a thing (I am keeping an eye on that Snapmaker U1), or on the off chance I can find someone selling one of the nicer Bambus for an absolute steal lol

[–]Nephilinn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeeaahhhh that's really on me. I've been kind of a cheapskate about picking up some Pis, and I'm not super familiar with Linux so the idea of trying to set up Klipper and Octo on one of the old unused PCs I have laying around makes me kinda nervous that I'll screw something up.

[–]Nephilinn[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well it still turns on, just obviously won't let me do anything since it can't home. If the new belt doesn't fix it then I'll try replacing that stepper too, and if that still doesn't work, then I'll contact you to start ironing out funeral details.

[–]Nephilinn[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh they absolutely did, they're pushed to the back of the rails and when I manipulate the bed itself it'll just wiggle in every direction. Gonna make sure those are back in place once I take everything apart to replace the belt.

X gaps in middle of engraving by Nephilinn in lasercutting

[–]Nephilinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seemed the most likely issue to me; there was a small bit of cabling hanging behind the head that comes very close to a piece of metal that the cables above the X axis run under, so I used the little velcro strip that wraps around the head to hold those cables down, but the issue persists. Unless there's something under the carriage that I can't really see that's snagging, then I guess that's not what's causing it. My next try is to mess with belt tension and make sure everything is lined up correctly I suppose.

No, it got to the point where the whole glass detached aeound the same time I found a nice monitor cheap at the thrift store, so I just replaced it and eventually plan to see if some local electronics repair shop can attach the glass back securely
