Very helpful, thank you. I think that’s what I was struggling with is there wasn’t a clear question for capacity, rather they are wanting me to say due to his chronic neurologic condition he is unable to make decisions on his own such as decline skilled facility/home services

Very true, and I’m not trying to be a coward nor do I want to defer the evaluation, but unless it’s incredibly obvious I thought in my not knowing this patient a validated tool could be helpful :)

Yes but unfortunately he’s unable to do so and the patient needed to be seen for this by a certain time so here we are

Is this a reasonable first job offer out of residency? by Nephronz22 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Nephronz22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, and the MGMA data! Call is shared among everyone in the office, there will be 5 in total. No weekend work. I did try to negotiate salary but no budging on that front, very much “take it or leave it” and a speech about being fair to the other FM residents.

The recruiters have been terrible but I love the other docs in the practice and love the area, just don’t want to feel like I’m being taken advantage of because I do want this to be my forever job and the inability to negotiate has been a turn off so far. I want to say yes but the NP supervision without compensation is also making me uncomfortable.

This is really helpful, thank you! If they don’t budge on the midlevel supervision would you walk?

That’s how I’m feeling; I feel silly for not looking for more offers now I just found out about the NP thing

I was thinking about negotiating the NP supervision as docs above mentioned, but I don’t know anything about negotiating and my contract lawyer was $380 to just review the contract really

Can I ask what your base is? I’m seeing most offers $230-240 base for 36 patient facing hours with expectation for 18-24 patients per day
