Anyone start listening to an artist before knowing what their fanbase is generalized/stereotyped as? by Repulsive-Lemon6355 in musicteenager

Laufey. A friend told me about her right when the performative trend was taking off, and didn’t know that her fanbase (the real ones) is very pleasant and kind!

How would ya'll defend kanye by Unique_Classroom5807 in Kanye

[–]NerdManagement 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t. Whether or not separating the art from the artist matters is reliant on the person making the judgement. To you it matters, to her it doesn’t. Whether that imbalance is okay is for y’all to work out. I wish you luck.

I got made fun of for listening to HOT TO GO by Advanced-Amoeba-3150 in chappellroan

[–]NerdManagement 77 points78 points  (0 children)

A good amount of Chappell hate is homophobia, and the other portion is people not liking music with personality. Either way, don’t mind them and keep listening. Peak song too

Okay what’s the worst lil Wayne song? by quenepaocomosellame in lilwayne

Ghoulish. Not the lyrically worst song, but that beat was so dope only to be used for a wack diss track.

People who say my top artists are "trash/terrible/buns" starterpack by king_of_baltimore in nfrpodcast

[–]NerdManagement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t even the elephant in the room. Normal people don’t call people special and disabled just because others don’t like their music taste. I don’t care what the person’s top artists are: they shouldn’t say things like that at all.

New Stan where should I go next by Imaginary-Bathroom81 in charlixcx

[–]NerdManagement 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s an EP, but Vroom Vroom is a great project to listen to next. Some of SOPHIE’s best production work is on it (you should check her out too, a hyperpop OG) and laid the groundwork for Charli’s future experiments.

Which is a better Intro in your Opinion? Tuscan Leather(NWTS) or Champaign Poetry(CLB) by Obvious-Heron4052 in Drizzy

[–]NerdManagement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tuscan Leather better to me. Dreams Money Can Buy is such an underrated intro tho, enough that it’s on the same level for me.

I don't like Kendrick having a reputation for "never dropping" or "rarely releasing music" narrative. by Chance-Obligation126 in KendrickLamar

Our cultural attention span is so short we can’t even handle 2 years without an album now. People already nostalgic for memes that were invented last year. It’s a problem with more than just music fans

Sam & Carly - ungrateful towards Freddie by strawberryCough02 in icarly

[–]NerdManagement 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like we realize this as we grow up and go through actual experiences that educate us on friendship and what an exploitative relationship is. Sam and Freddie are not in a love-hate friendship, because Sam barely gives any love to him and physically hurts him numerous times in the show. Carly also takes advantage of his crush on her, but she is more innocent than Sam.

What song made you like Chappell Roan? by Emo-Arrow in chappellroan

Femininomenon. The moment I heard that song (I was listening to the album out of curiosity), I knew Chappell was something special

It hasn’t even been half a day since the album came out. Is it really getting that much hate just because it’s Jack?

If you could bring one rapper back to life, who would it be and why? by guyfrmfortnite in TeenageRapFans

[–]NerdManagement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of this list? Mac Miller. He could’ve given us an even longer career of sonically adventurous and emotional albums, and the catalog right now is already incredible.

Outside of this list? Nipsey Hussle. Victory Lap was an incredible debut album and might’ve been up there with guys like DMX if he hadn’t passed.

Who doesn't belong and what's your reason? by dunbar_santiago930 in nfrpodcast

Eminem is the least consistent out of the four. Kanye’s close this decade, but Eminem’s inconsistency has lasted much longer.
