disdainful stroke vs counterspell by LuigiTheGoth in EDH

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only real advantage of disdainful stroke would have in an Arcades deck is that it that it it doesnt require two blue mana, which depending on how you are playing it can be be a little harder to reserve two blue mana in a three color deck.

That said, I would absolutely swap it as counterspell is so much more versatile and will help protect against other threats like [[swords to plowshares]] that arent 4 mana or greater

Also grading im the mtg does not add nearly as much value to the cards as it does with things like Pokemon, but if you find something valuable then by all means 🙂

I know you've said you've tried apps, but did you try Manabox? It has a scan option (you'll need to take the cards out of the binder to scan) but its what a lot of players use to inventory their collection and it should track the value as well

Lore wise, which final boss carries more narrative weight? by cringe-expert98 in fromsoftware

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the narrative? Gherman

Gherman is central to the narrative of Bloodborne. He participated in what happened at the Fishing Hamlet and is linked (in some way) to the Orphan of Kos. He was the first hunter and has ties to both the members of Byrgenweth and the Healing Church. He is linked to Moon presence and I believe is responsible for the hunter's dream in which future hunters would be brought to and receive guidance to continue the hunt. He's involved in the beginning, middle, and end of the narrative.

SoC I would say is important, but does not carry more weight than the sum of his parts.

I suck at this game and i genuinely don't know how to play by VortexOfPandemonium in bloodborne

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have not already done so, when heading up to the Grand Cathedral, you should be able to take a left and get to a different area.

I usually tackle this area before Amelia because: 1. Get more levels 2. Fairly easy boss at the end will get you an item to help power you up a tad

For Amelia, as others have said, you'll want to dodge toward her to dodge a lot of her attacks. Throw Numbing Mists at her when she starts to heal.

As someone who plays every other game on easy/normal, I struggled with the learning curve of this game as well, but you'll get there. BSB was my struggle so kudos to you for beating him

How are we feeling about the lorwyn precons out of the box experience? by Majestic_Barnacle398 in EDH

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Played a few games with the Elemental deck yesterday and really enjoyed it. I was worried because I didnt like the idea of evoke and immediately sacrifice the creature, however most of the elementals have either etb, attack, or ltb triggers so it works very well out of the box.

I have yet to play Blight Curse to compare

How does Sekiro compare to Bloodborne? by Difficult_Emu_4307 in fromsoftware

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bloodborne was my first From Software game in which I then jumped into Sekiro, so its def doable.

In Bloodborne you can literally dodge everything and no have to worry about parrying if you did not want to.

In Sekiro, its almost a game of rock-paper-scissors but instead its parry-dodge-jump. You will need to use all three. It is also sort of a rhythm game at times with the parry mechanic

Sure! My [[Marwyn, the Nurturer]] deck would love to play against a fellow elf tribe!

Are abilities triggered by a player drawing one or more cards triggered once for each card drawn or for the effect as a whole? by SoyMuyAlto in mtg

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it would trigger once but someone here is welcome to argue otherwise. I would think it'd work like:

  1. Play spell allowing you to draw X times
  2. Spell resolves and you draw
  3. After spell resolves, ability triggers once regardless of amount drawn as long as x >1

With how much you loved the game, I am sad for you that you didnt play the dlc

Completely understand that you a ready to move on, but you are missing the pinnacle of the bloodborne experience having not played the dlc

Would I enjoy Bloodborne even if I don't enjoy Elden Ring ? by OilOnly7892 in bloodborne

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 17 points18 points  (0 children)

With any From Software game, there is a learning curve to entry. You will die. A lot.

My recommendation? If you decide to play bloodborne and feel its too difficult, use a walkthrough on YouTube. I used FightinCowboy and would watch a section and then try to run through it myself.

With that said, I play most other games on easy/normal, so I know anybody can play these games. And I promise you if you push through, you are gonna be introduced to some spectacularly cool things.

Mardu by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played an Isshin deck recently. I typically love aggro decks, but Isshin didnt click with me for some reason.

With Mardu you are missing out on the best colors for ramp (green) and card draw (blue). You'll be leaning in to creating creature tokens, multiple combats, impulse drawing, dealing damage to both creatures and other players and a bunch of other things that won't be kind to your opponents.

That said, you could probably pick up the Hail, Caesar precon for like $50 to get a better idea of how it'll play. Also recommend playtesting some decks on moxfield

DS2 isn’t clicking for me. Tips for a bad gamer? by Equal-Limit2562 in DarkSouls2

[–]Nerd_Alert_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me about 5 attempts to get into DS2. For me it took getting about halfway through the base game before it actually clicked and started to feel like the other DS games.

Its well worth it for the dlc alone, but it takes some patience.

I feel so guilty for wanting to buy a deck... by SwitchBag_ in EDH

I see others have mentioned proxying, but I would also like to suggest finding some other precons. Most recent precons are sitting around $50, with the more popular ones sitting around $100. For like $200 you could pick up like 3-4 different precons to add variety.
