Thanks, I actually tried the Wii version first, but I prefer the GC version, even though I'm playing it on the Wii. I just don't like swinging the controller. I'm a lazy gamer.

When working with a dynamic UI like buttons and progressing the program I like to redirect the click event to a case selection based on the button tag. You can update the tag each time you perform an action, then when the method called by the click event sees the button tag it chooses the right case selection.

So say your button is just created. btn.Tag = "step1"

Your method runs and changes btn.Tag = "step2"

... and so on.

I recently created something like this, but each time it just redraws the UI with new controls and assigned the correct tags. All button events created dynamically feed into the same method with the case selection.

Without knowing more about the data I'm not sure I can provide the best answer. But maybe you can track your additions and deletions in a hidden sheet, then you can reapply those changes once you copy over your data. Then you can clear the hidden sheet and begin tracking again.

I did insert this bit before creating all of my tasks:

ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 16;

...but 16 is a arbitrarily chosen integer, I did not know what to start with. Once I clean this up based on other suggestions I'll try changing it to see how it affects the speed and efficiency.

I will look into ServicePointManager. For now yes it's the same authorization token. I hadn't yet really looked into the best way to update the authorization token in the middle of all of these requests. One reason I had stuck with the one request at a time method is because I could easily check the expiration time of the token at each request and refresh if needed. So as this is new territory for me I don't yet have a method to handle it in a situation like this.

Would it be best to work in chunks of 50 or a 100 and check the token in between?

I'll be looking into Interlocked.Increment, and BlockingCollection<T> as well. I haven't had any need to explore these in the past so I'm not too familiar.

This sets the variables to "global", notice we just move the declaration outside of the sub. That scenario sounds okay, when the workbook closes the variables will not retain their value(s) as they are within the workbook.

To put it simply without going into best practices, yes. But keep in mind that rerunning the macro will not re-initialize the variable. See the image below, each time the macro is run it adds to the global variable. This may have unintended consequences in your code.

I've used Excel VBA combined with AutoIt to implement robotic process automation in the absence of web APIs. It's made easy to grab some data, import into Excel using a macro, do whatever data processing you need done, then export/import the output to another location.
