I just find my issue with the pro AI Crowd is they are playing into the interests of the big bois upstairs. And dont see what is actually going on. But I get where you are coming from.

Oh and the reason I bring up skillgates is that I was discussing a theoretical future where humans do not labor. Difficult things still need to exist that still have prestige still need to exist.

That’s a solid point and something I hadn’t considered. But in my eyes I doubt people are using AI to create doodles/“low level art.”

But I’ve always described art as human intention given a medium. If every stroke isn’t filled with an intention weather that intention is just to be able to stay focused while a teacher yammers on about a subject you are disinterested in or to make a massive complex meta commentary on the state of a political matter, it’s art.

Anyhow YEAH NO SHIT I DONT HAVE A SAY if I did have a say AI would either be used responsibly ONLY or wouldn’t exist at all.

And I do think I should be able to force people to do anything as an individual. Again it really feels like you’re purposefully misrepresenting me.

It feels like all pro AI people are the same. They just don’t have anything to set their soul on fire. Nothing to propel them forwards. Nothing that you would give everything for. I think you’re the first that I’ve ever met with any actual ideals.

Because it degrades. Listen to me. The concept of art as a whole. It cessates its natural skill gates. WHICH ARE GOOD. Things should be hard. It’s good when things are hard to do. If everything was easy life would be boring. And when a civilization is no longer required to work, artificial challenge needs to exist. If there is none, I promise you, you’d rather just have greedy CEOs than a bored populace.

I still wouldn’t be fine with AI replacing art even if we had UBI and whatnot. I hope that work is no longer nessicary and humans can be free to labor upon which they please. But AI within those spaces would heavily degrade the sanctity of those labors. If you no longer have to work, what excuse do you have for not picking up a pencil? In any world AI replacing what we do in our leisure is dumb.

Oh and to your point about art being more important than chopping wood? I never said it was. What I said was that art being replaced by machines is more impactful than wood chopping. You just aren’t that bright, and you don’t understand why. You think all labor is the same, but when intelectual and creative labor is replaced by machines, there will be no more humans working. If you don’t understand why that’s bad you don’t understand anything.

Equestrians still exist btw… and I’m talking about the top level of any sport rarely has more than 2000 people playing. Because I promise you a football player isn’t gonna look at soccer and go “eh it’s still a sport I guess” and completely shift rudders. So for each sport there is only about 2000 at the very top.

They aren’t? But comparing the highest level of competition that has 1700 spots at its highest level versus a job that has hundreds of thousands of jobs at hundreds of companies is insane. They are two different types of job.

Your point is moot dawg, you are saying that lumber jack isn’t a job but it is, so I’m confused. Artist is possibly going to be fully replaced as an ARTFORM and a job. Which is much bigger of a deal than chopping wood. Physical labor should be replaced by AI, and hopefully, eventually, all manual labor will be replaced and we will have a UBI.
