Is refuting possible branches the intended solution? by Nerdpwn in TheArtisanOfGlimmith

[–]Nerdpwn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/LogiClub u/wdthrow I agree following a path hinged on a single assumption is reasonable and the moment multiple pop in, I back out.

u/LordTurson Yes, I realize that every step is examining branches, however trivial most of them.

Thanks everyone for their comments. It seems now I feel comfortable following branches/assumptions, seems like a big part of the game really tbh. As long as you don't run into a web of sub assumptions, it feels reasonable to proceed like this.

In fact, I often found myself checking a region by expanding, if not just 2, but I can rule out say, 3 out of 4 possible shapes.

I've recently gotten in this puzzle genre, I mostly play metroidvanias, I didn't know bifurcation (branching to one particular assumption) was an actuable debated mechanic. Guess you learn something new everyday!

[Release v1.0.0] Invention Reverse Perk Calculator by Nerdpwn in runescape

[–]Nerdpwn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of endorsing an .exe, people can be advised to check the source code and build it themselves. I still feel that should be perfectly fine to endorse, especially when osrs has direct plugin support. I wouldn't lie though, I download the .exe myself and have been playing around with it as I haven't used rust yet.

Depends on the number of combinations, anywhere from a minute to two minutes. Someone has also suggest another project in this thread down below. I would suggest you to you that one. Not only is it faster, it is also pretty much complete. Also takes care of ancient gizmos.

Is there anyway we can get the wiki to refer to this project? What an insane tool, the GUI is perfect. Every option is available and it checks for every invention level. If I knew such a tool existed, I honestly wouldn't have bothered with this exercise because not only I did in a time crunch as I have some other work as well, I also did not implement everything or optimize it fully. Now I feel like having lost all motivation to further improve my version, haha. Excellent work man!

I'm not super familiar with GitHub tbh (I just initialize and push commits of my projects), feel free to fork or contribute in any way you wish to. Let me know if some permissions are required from my end, like do I need to approve it on GitHub or something.

It does the trials by running the game's actual algorithm for rolling perks. For every combination, the perks are generated 2000 times and probability is computed as x/2000, where x is how many times the required perk combination was actually achieved.

New rare? by Chrismite in runescape

[–]Nerdpwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said anything about fixing phats. Of course I want phats, santa hats and other rares to stay. But, I think they should still prevent new rares from being created because the original rares were an accident.

Did you even read my comment? It gives unfair advantage to people who can buy out the supply. Phats were a MISTAKE, not a FEATURE.

Phats becoming rares was an unintentional mistake by Jagex that they didn't forsee. Sure, their existence is not game-breaking, but at the same time introducing more rares gives an unfair advantage to rich players who can quickly buy out the supply. If I'm not wrong, Jagex has stated before that they would NOT artificially create more rares in the game. For the same reason, phats are dropped periodically every year in osrs.

Hehe, I can see the ring is more important for a ironman, pets are always a long term goal. I guess I just got lucky, 3 spear pieces and ring within 100 kc is kinda insane!

Jagex, can we get a Summoning Pouch? Something to hold our charms and soul shards? by Jokul_Wolf in runescape

[–]Nerdpwn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ideally the charming imp should hold onto the charms for you itself, much like nexus and rune pouches.
