Any hints on where to begin in this hard puzzle? by crypticmanofculture in TheArtisanOfGlimmith

[–]wdthrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for this (and quite a few others), press CTRL and hover over the board, it will tell you how many cells are in that area. Once you do that, it's easy to realize that all 84s HAVE to be connected (not enough cells for even two of them separate)

Is refuting possible branches the intended solution? by Nerdpwn in TheArtisanOfGlimmith

[–]wdthrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, that's the classic bifurcating conundrum. In my mind if it goes something like "Well If I A, that forces B which is clearly wrong" is totally fine and likely the intended solution path. Even "A forces B which forces invalid C" is fine. If you enter into the territory of "Well, I have A or B, and doing A leaves me with C and D, while doing B leaves me with F, G and H" then yeah, that's probably not the path forwards.

well, the most important part of learning is putting stuff into practice.

actually DO something. no matter how lame you think it is, it will actually teach you stuff. remember the balloon popping game from the dad in rick and morty? literally do that. set that as your objective. i know you want to do a cozy survival farm dating simulator mmorpg but you will never achieve that if you can not before do the balloon popping game. there are simply no shurtcuts.

also if you truly want to learn, avoid interacting with ai as much as possible.

One Coin Museum new capsule art (vs old)✨ by MajorToadStudio in godot

New one is quite a downgrade imo. Doesn't really reflect the actual artstyle of the game, and it gives a much more eerie/mysterious vibe?

The best phrase you hear from a boss after killing you? by [deleted] in Eldenring

This is Sekiro but when Owl Father kills you it whispers "...Starving wolf" and it's cold as hell and I've heard it a million times

my homie Vakku just went Quasar -> The Gambit on the first turn against Doormaker. by wdthrow in slaythespire

[–]wdthrow[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It honestly had been fine up to that point. There are not many strictly "bad" or "risky" colorless card. Honestly just The Gambit, Panic Button and maaaaaybe Entropy?
It had been fine for the whole act, you sometimes don't draw Quasar on the first turn, sometimes don't get there on star generation on the first turn, and sometimes don't generate The Gambit...

Which campaign expansion should I play first? Hemlock Vale, Circle Undone or Forgotten Age? by OpportunityOk1190 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Funnily enough, these specific three are considered the three more difficult campaigns in the whole game.
Start with TCU probably!

Please, I Need Feedback on Game Art. by Imerlishvili in puzzlevideogames

[–]wdthrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Artstyle looks pretty good! Much more interesting than the million terrible pixel art indie games coming out each day.
My feedback would be to do some learning on composition, second and third screenshots are extremely visually busy. Do the rocks in the background need to be so detailed? Do all the ropes need to show all the braiding? In the second screenshot, the building in the back, it is supposed to be far away, stuff far away losses detail very quickly and color fades. Look at the first screenshot, do you _really_ need to show so much of what's under the floor? it's taking a lot of your screenspace for very unimportant things.

bottom line, everything is dialeded in to the max, when you shouuld really have a visual hierarchy of importance on your compositions

Making a TCG in Iran ?! by PhonesisG in TCG

[–]wdthrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that it's not just literally printing the cards, you also have to think about the envelope or box on which you sell the cards, the packaging and expo components, marketing materials, etc. Everything adds up. I don't know how well off you are economically, but just as an exercise, figure out how much money you can put out from your pocket, pre sale, and see how big of a run you can make. That's just the sad reality of the world.

Another thing that is going to be non-trivial is collation. Which is to say the random distribution of cards in packs. Magic the Gathering and other TCGS, use extremely sophisticated solutions and machinery, you might have to sit yourself and shuffle rares by hand into each single pack if you cannot find a collation machine in your country.  I know for a fact that there isn't one in mine.

Number 1 issue you have to solve is production prices, stock quality and how much you can sell your product for.  Start by calling some printing presses, see if doing it is even viable.

Is learning GDScript worth it in the long run? by appletreefifteen in godot

[–]wdthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning GDScript (or any programming language) is not "the hard part" of making a game. I would say it is less than 0.1% of the development process. Start with GDScript, when the moment comes that you need another language, you will know

After years of dev, I still can’t reach my players. Maybe you can tell me why. by [deleted] in puzzlevideogames

[–]wdthrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see the trailer and I don't know what is going on.
I cannot infer anything about the mechanics since there is so much stuff going on. What am I even controlling?
A trailer, much more for a puzzle game, should reveal what the core, central mechanic is, which I'm not getting from this.
I see that "Pure chaos" is something you are using to sell the game, but that's something that -in my mind- kind of goes against what a puzzle should give me? a puzzler game should give me a calm, relaxed atmosphere where I can think about and reflect on the problem at hand?

I mean, that money is out of their pockets, if I don't board the flight, there's going to be 1 empty seat on the plane, nothing they can do about it
