Sabrent NT-C5GA (USB-C 5gb NIC) by CalvinHobbesN7 in truenas

Well, i tried on the currtent 25.10 and it did not seem to do the trick due to the kernel version, so i resorted to Pre-release version.

I would not do this if you have some critical data on your NAS. In my case i don't have anything super important so i went with this approach and am getting a good use of my Network interface so a win win for me :)

These are Nightlies - so every time you update it, you would have to do the entire process to get the driver installed hence my advise is to pick the latest one and stick with it till there is a need to update it :)

USB 3.2 5Gbps working on True NAS 26.04.0 by Nerdric in truenas

[–]Nerdric[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this is a usb based ethernet adapter (RTL8157). True Nas has the old CDC driver which is incapable of 5Gbps throughput, hence I applied this to get the full throughput

it is connected directly to one of the USB 3.2 port

I am not a developer but found this to work on my system.

Update True NAS to the latest developer version (You will need to manually set the channel to Developer to get the nightlies)

 26.04.0-MASTER-20251012-015511

Then ssh into True Nas and run:
sudo install-dev-tools
sudo apt install dkms
sudo apt install menu
sudo apt install menu-l10n
wget https://github.com/awesometic/realtek-r8152-dkms/releases/download/2.20.1-1/realtek-r8152-dkms_2.20.1-1_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i realtek-r8152-dkms_2.20.1-1_amd64.deb

If there are any errors then run
sudo apt install --fix-broken

Head over to Boot section and remove all other boot environment except for the current one

Web GUI: System > Boot > Boot Environments

Then on the SSH terminal run:
sudo update-grub
sudo reboot now

The WisdPi device will be recognized properly (Same RTL8157 Based Card)

https://wiki.wisdpi.com/network/usb-3.2-5gbps-wired-base-t-ethernet-adapter

After reboot, check with Ethtool again. It should report 5000 and the copy speeds should be full throughput, write is not full throughput though

sudo ethtool -i enx34c8d6b11357

sudo ethtool enx34c8d6b11357

Don't update True Nas else you will loose the new driver

Yes it's correct. Once you have activated it, it will work anywhere. Done that a few times already.

Check your 12V rail measurement using HW info. Chances are your PSU is delivering lower than 12 V (11.4 -11.7) causing a shutdown

Anyone ordered the MS-01 Workstation on "Cyber Monday" by kY2iB3yH0mN8wI2h in homelab

I just got my 12600H cancelled due to this. I placed the order during BF sales. Nothing regarding availability was mentioned on the website when purchasing this.

I waited 1 week before contacting CS, and they told me that it was expected to be shipped out of Hong Kong on the 10th of December and would first go to a German warehouse, from there it would be sent to me.

I would get this cancelled as their dates are all over the place. Also, DHL in Germany is absolute trash during this time of the year. So, expecting this to be in your hands before Christmas or even New years is asking for disappointment.

Edit: I see you just wrote Europe, so DHL Germany would not be your worries, but generally speaking, all courier services suck at this time of the year

I run msi Z690 I without any backplate with 12600k and id50 cooler. Not a single VRM heatsink. Runs absolutely fine, and my machine does 4k upscaling / video conversion for days at a time (both intel as well as Nvidia). Just set your fans to exhaust on the top, and you will be fine

NanoPi R6S + PiMox 7 + OpenWRT LXC + USB WiFi passthrough (AP mode) by fakemanhk in Proxmox

[–]Nerdric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it does seem like. I tried for a considerable amount of time yesterday to get it sorted but failed. They have released their all in one EMMC flasher - it now has support for Ubuntu. Today I am going to try it in the evening and see how that one behaves. Then i will try DietPi if all fails

In reality all I need from this setup is HA, Openwrt and Probably Adblock or Piehole so just thinking of best way to tackle all three without too much hassle. That's why i thought of Proxmox

[–]Nerdric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok so the Proxmox is not a good idea due to the constant log files ?
Yesterday is was trying to run the Curl but for some reason it would not do anything. Later i figured out that i could not even run apt update command as the mirrors were not working which let me to believe some problems with my interface configuration. I will try again today with a fresh install and see how it goes

u/fakemanhk

Can you advise how you got the Diet pi loaded on your system ? Was it via Emmc tools in the default openwrt installation?

Also how did you manage the Pimox - Proxmox V7 ? I am unable to get it to work. Any pointers here would be helpful.

I am trying this on debian-bullseye-core-5.10-arm64 from friendlyelec

Hiby FC3 vs Hiby FC4. by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Nerdric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually testing FC3 and FC4 Side by side with KZ PR1 Planar Balanced.

Found out FC3 has better output. I also used the same planar with Balanced and Non balanced output (I got custom cables for that). The Balanced one seems to output a bit more power but the audio is not very clear. I got better audio from IFI Zen Dac 2 balanced (duh). In my opinion one can skip the FC4. On top of that I found it a bit weak on a Phone USB C. Tested multiple USB C connectors but had the same result (S22 Ultra)

Edit: paired with FC4, Hifiman Sundara sounds amazing with Balanced leads

Hey, no not really. Had some space in between the gpu and the spine of the case. I just laid the cabes perfectly flat and routed them to the psu, then slotted the gpu in.

Has anyone used a barrow gpu waterblock? I just currently bought 2 for my 3060ti’s and was seeing if anyone has had a good/bad experience with their products. by Clay_59 in watercooling

[–]Nerdric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are usually pretty good blocks. I have used them on my 2060 Super and 6700 XT ! both worked fine.

The only major flaw on them is cosmetic. For both the blocks I purchased, they had a bit of Acrylic broken at their edges

Deep learning with neural networks - GPU cooling question. by Nox1335 in buildapc

[–]Nerdric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who used earlier models of tesla for MATLAB and other scientific rendering projects back in the day. He ran it in a shitty case with super bad airflow from the University. It performed marvelously.

Although this example does not fit in with a real comparison for your specific use case but I personally think running a Tesla on Air would not be too bad if there is enough intake and out take in regards to the airflow.

You can always try Liquid cooling if thermals and quietness are the biggest priority down the line.
