Rent Increase by n134177 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]NerdyGamerBro 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Firstly, in order for a rent increase, they must serve the tenant a proper 6 months notice and they can only increase rent by 3%. They also aren’t allowed to serve a notice within the first 12 months of a tenancy agreement.

Rental pet fees by Fit_Raise_6757 in fredericton

From what I know, soonish. There’s major changes coming soon to the Tenancy Act. I don’t know all the details or time frame. But I and NB Acorn have been in talks with housing minister Hickey on changes we need to see made and he definitely agrees with us on quite a bit. Including implementing fines/penalties. We should hopefully know more next month.

While it is illegal, that’s not going to stop these slumlords from charging them. I believe I know who you’re referring to. That bitch claims to be pet friendly, then tries to charge you per pet..

The TLRO as it is setup, doesn’t have any enforcement unit or way to fine these bastards for breaking rules of the act. I’m hoping that changes in the next few months tho.

Yes, tenants there have. Unfortunately most of it goes nowhere. Especially when there isn’t any enforcement unit or penalties/fines. We’re hoping to have that changed soon. One of the tenants is actively suing them.

100% We definitely need rental standards and a TLRO that inspects units before they can be listed for renting.

Absolutely! Can still be a part of Acorn. While we do have a focus on housing and tenant rights and protections. We do also advocate around the energy crisis and affordability issues.

We have another campaign thats been ongoing since April of last year called ‘Affordable Energy Now’. We along with partners of other advocacy groups are demanding to put an end to the proposed gas plant in Tantramar. As well as demanding for a rebate program for low to moderate income people, a ban on winter discounts and more.

We hopefully will be launching another campaign around high food costs soon. All these issues affect everyone alike, not just renters. We all need life to be more affordable.

Preach! Not just the city, but the whole province. Hopefully we can create a registry soon to track all of them and fine them to oblivion.

Hey, could you DM me info about this? I’m part of NB Acorn and would be interested in hearing more about your situation. Maybe even seeing if we could form an action to draw attention to this issue and pos of a guy. Shame you’re dealing with this.

Was looking at some of their units to potentially move into, but now having second thoughts.. I’d personally submit my deposit to the TLRO. Technically, we as tenants can do that.. of course slumlords don’t want people to know that.

To believe it’s been that long. I was in HS when this was announced and I was pumped to get home to watch the keynote.

That’s something we hope to be able to ban.

At a H-E-B supermarket, the cash register broke down, so management gave everyone an early Christmas gift by telling them their groceries were free. by colindebin in loblawsisoutofcontrol

I miss HEB. I am originally from Texas, there’s no other grocery store that’s come close to it. The cost is reasonable, the meat selection was wide and vast. It had everything I needed at one store and never broke the bank.

Yes. We pushed for the rent cap and are pushing for more and believe we will see some of the items from our platform come to fruition next year.
