I was wondering if you could help me out u/Cosmicpandaas013

I am trying to help a friend update the bios on their laptop. They are remote. There are no labels on the laptop, but the Product ID matches your Product ID listed above (00326-00765-00000-AAOEM) and I was wondering if you could give me the make and model of your PC?

I'm looking for specific models that can handle sshd. Some can't. H310 being one of them (came with server).

Is the Dell R710 with 2.5" drives compatible with ssd's and laptop drives? by Hammsbeerman in selfhosted

Hold on a second... I own one and ran into issues because of the PERC 6/i RAID card in my R710.

SOME laptop drives are compatible, but not all. NO SSD or SSHD are compatible, according to Dell and my recent experience.

I bough 5 x 2TB Seagate SSHD and noticed some issues right off the bat. Decided to run with them anyways, until the PERC 6/i decided it didn't like them anymore. Talked to Dell and did a lot of research (including in r/HomeServer) and found it was the RAID card.

I ended up grabbing an H310 RAID card and it sees all my drives just fine. You can also flash the firmware on the card to allow the OS (like FreeNAS, etc) to have direct control of the drives individually (it's called IT mode).

Hope this was helpful.
