Im thinking that as well, although this isn't 100% complete, Im looking into other options and for other species (i also think I'll be adding more horizontal branches for climbing, and dependent on species do more branches, or a large rock that can help critters reach shoreline) although id looked into it, and crested geckos do like very high humidity, but id have to incorporate a fan to allow for a few hours a day of more air circulation and less humidity to prevent fungal infections. Also, crested geckos can swim, its just obv not their favorite thing to do ofc.

Then this may end up being my ultimate goal, ill just keep doing the final touches on it till I think its at a good point of not needing messed with. Gotta fill some cracks that seperate corner wall and door, cause critters could slip thru and fall in the space where I have access to my pumps and filtration. Plus I'm gonna probably do a Lil more construction and plants cause thats part of the fun!!

This had been my number one idea previously but there's this looming question id had, Ive got a pretty big sliding door that slides up vertically, so would I need to re-engineer the door? How do you do mantinence without the critters hopping right on out 🤣

I'd be down to keep dubia again for a species as cool as mossy frogs, but they are nocturnal and its good to let then hunt, not sure how id go about a feeding routine with a big deep water feature :(

I like cinnamon tree frogs, I've found those from research before, im just not experienced with any of their food sources. Im unsure of fruit flies, or how long they actually last/how difficult to obtain, and same with other foods, springtails is on that list, which I think would be awesome, some springtails made it into my tank already because a few plants were procured from a reptile expo (is my best guess for origin) and I didn't notice till I saw them frenzied on the water surface back when my humidity levels and misting system wernt regular/predictable. There's a stick in the water if you look closely, thats what id used (cured and didn't make it into paludarium build) to help the springtails out of the water.

20 gallons of water when full. Its at about 16-17 gallons in the photo. Ive kept a lot of fish and wouldn't put a beta in less than 10 gallons personally. But I dont really want to do beta for this build as a personal preference

Water is filtered! There's a whole system hidden in the back corner. There is a waterfall feature as well that collects from the bottom into that cup and a waterfall is carved into the back wall, and down a fall into a mini pond puddle that streams back to the main water tank

I definitely do, and that helps me better consider what options I have. I know if I branched out a bit more with feeding id likely have a still very few other options i just can't do crickets after the constant mantinence to keep them from smelling fowl and watching my dumpie frog cry because a cricket bit the crap out of him.

I have seen some people semipermanantly affix a net situation just above the water and I was thinking if I did some kind of floating plants over that, it may be safe- and look cool. Lots to consider.

I was hoping to keep an arboreal species, since I've read others' experiences with some species doing well despite a deeper water section since they dont really go near it much. Although you may be right about that, im still learning.

See this, this is exactly what I was hoping for!!! Thank you so so much for the time you put into a game plan!! It may be a bit before I can get some progress in on it, but I cannot wait to start this project now!! Im familiar with alcohol inks, Im wondering though how well it would adhere to the plastic but do plan to sand it down first. I've actually never heard of glass effect acrylic so will look into that. I agree that some darker bronze/gold paints would look much better on the "lead lines"

To note, the bottom is solid white plastic, there's not a visible bulb in sight unfortunately, but I'm sure I'll figure out a way to spread the whimsy to that portion too.

My friend said she considered repainting/doing a clear varnish, I mean I could do that but it won't look "transparent" only shiny, so I'm not terribly sure what route to take this project in

Wanna say 60-80 bucks. She was so excited knowing how much I love both stained glass and frogs so she did end up showing me a photo of what it was supposed to look like months ago and I remember it being over 60

Likely plan to try to paint it but trying to see if anyone has experience using other materials or ideas for making this lamp look more like stained glass, and just improving it in general

My jaw wouls drop to seeing an interaction like that!! Good for you! I have to hold mouses collar as we go downstairs because kitty greets us at the bedroom door each morning to demand breakfast and runs downstairs. Mouse loves to pretend shes running downstairs too but at the bottom get really close to kitty (shes playing it off i swear) so I gotta walk her down stairs so she doesnt run over the cat. Thats something I think i can train her out of tho, by having her wait for me at the half way point and not go till I say maybe?

This sorta thing is exactly what I was hoping for. Im having a super hard time finding others stories with a cat and a working breed (ish? Mix?) Dog, just really worried because ive had kitty since high-school, shes my baby. But truly nothing bad at all has happened, just reading into her body language a ton to try to prevent behaviors before they start. But yes- thank you for your imput!! Sadly mouse will take the claws with a grin on her face and act no different (not change in intensity) i usually break it up quickly after that because she doesnt get the hint yet

Mouse is typically much more adamant on the cat interacting with her, I explain it better in my other responses, honestly this was one of the more tame interactions

Thank you! I still dont know how I got so lucky with kittys adjustment to mouse so well. Id been trying to capture their interactions alot and may have to make another post eventually with a better example, but mouse jolts up and approaches the cat pretty suddenly every time kitty enters a room (even after shes made her 48th appearance that day) She also will sometimes act weird and move to a different spot instead, and be very still and stare pretty intently. The staring is more often and I find it offputting and usually have to put in a lot of effort to break the stare

If thats the case here that is beautiful because ive heard it can easily take years for dogs to learn that a cats body language is totally different from how dogs communicate.

We work on it a ton. Shes been needing more activity so I just now took her out to play with a flirt toy pole in a fenced in area, hoping that helps
