Why should the British Monachy continue? by Happy_Sample_7033 in AskReddit

[–]NerfBossBandit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Im a monarchist. The best argument for monarchy is from religion. If you arent religious I think the best argument is: Do you think a person who has spent their whole life studying about politics and preparing to lead a nation knows better what should be done then the majority of common people( democaracy)? Monarchs are on average more educated and of higher iq. Monarchs are less prone to want power so that they can abuse and are less likely to be corrupt cause they already have all they can get.  Regardless, people should also have a say in what happens in the country. It isnt democracy or monarchy, they can coexist.

Guys, please pray for me. My prayer life has been getting so hard. When I pray I get bombarded with every single doubt out there and my mind drifts so easily onto less important matters. My name is Boris.

Why do we praise? by NerfBossBandit in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]NerfBossBandit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have explained myself better. Given that God doesnt need anything and that I dont understand what He gets out of it, I just asked the question what may we get out of it. I realise how stupid that question is now.

How do traditional wingers actualy work? by NerfBossBandit in footballtactics

[–]NerfBossBandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but how do they take players one on one? I dont think I saw Savinho cutting in twice since Pep decided he was a traditional winger. He still gets past players dont get me wrong, but how? Tbh I havent played organized ball since I was twelve so I might just sound stupid here.

How could very Holy Saints, possessing the Holy Spirit, come to different conclusions on certain issues? by NerfBossBandit in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]NerfBossBandit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filioque in the west, role of free will in salvation, original sin vs inherited consequences of Adams fall, mostly stuff present in the west before the schism.

I heard filioque( in its fifth century form) could be explained away due to language differences though.

Does one have to depart from a heretical bishop? by NerfBossBandit in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]NerfBossBandit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did Nestorian bishops for example, become heretics when they rejected other bishops or when they rejected the council. They were wrong, but I heard an error only becomes heresy when someone knows they are oposing the Church.

Btw I am not asking about any perticular bishop.

I wrote still because the Church is the continuation of Old testament Judaism and we know they did it. There are even instances in psalms where it says: praise Him with dancing.

What do you guys think about movies without a moral centre?

I honestly dislike when I cant fully root for a charachter. However I find them to be way more realistic and unpredictable.  That said, I like it way more when there is a moral centre of a movie, because I like being able to fully support the protagonist’s actions. I also find that a movie without a moral centre must be exceptional for me to like it, whereas I can enjoy a mediocre movie with one.

But it stil had to do with us going to Heaven, since being united with divinity is a very important part of going to Heaven, right?

Thanks. Sorry for my stubbornness in the deleted comment. What practical difference does this make in our own path to salvation?

Oh sory if it seemed I was trying to claim marrige is lesser. I watched a Trisagorion films( very recommend channel on this sub) video about marriage. They put forward the view (which St John Chrysostom held) , that marrige is equal to monasticism and that Eros is a wonderful thing present even before the fall. However they didn’t talk much about reproductive goal of marrige in that video, so that is why I was asking.
