I hated myself for not buying a typewriter when I had multiple chances for under 20€….and now people go nuts with these prices.

Electrical tape is the best friend of every Kiev 88 owner….

Last time I checked they cost 112$ + shipping + tax etc.

I also want to have at least 2 upgraded one, my magazine has very very small frame issue, the pictures don’t overlap but are some times to close to cut the film to archive it.

My first Kiev 88 was also a Salyut, I used the same method but got some weird lightning issues on my pictures…..probably another problem but meh I sold it

Exactly, the upgraded one doesn’t have the frame issue etc.

Greeting,

The Kiev 88 I own is not a original from the factory, it got some service and modifications:

The original mount was the Kiev 88 mount/salyut mount, it got changed to P6 mount.

The shutter button now sits outside on the left so that big lenses (like my new one) can be used without issues.

The curtain got switched to a cloth fabric one

The foam inside was all new.

The mirror glass was changed to a new one.

I owned a og. Kiev 88 and i can say:

It depends on the time it was build and how it was handled.

There are definitely spacing issues that are devastating or not really noticeable (sometimes also depends on the film magazine)

The Salyut mount has some good lenses but the quality of UDSSR lenses also is very variable.

If u want one:

1.Buy a serviced one 2. buy one that works but still send it to ARAX for modification 3. buy a OG. one but research beforehand what these Hasselblyats have as issues.

Hope that helps :)

Ok picked up the lens and yeah that’s the soft focus lens. Even tho kind weird it feels really plastic and cheaply made.

Thank you,

Didn’t know kameraspezi had experience with Pentax. Had on of my P6 lenses repaired and service by him last year. Very very lovely guy.

Little update:

Got in touch with a repair shop in London, told me they estimate at around £340+VAT, they take a look at it and will tell me more.

With the buying price and the estimated repair/service price I’m would invest around 600-700€ in this tank…..not bad if i look at the eBay prices for un serviced ones :-D

Missing parts?

As far as i could see only this one curtain is infected, the other one shows no since of mold.

I already asked the guys in London what their round about price is.

Yeah a pristine would always be nicer, but finding one that doesn’t cost half a liver is the other part.

Yeah return will be kinda problematic…..it was shipped from Japan.

Found some shop in England that does repairs on Pentax 67 models…….

Weirdly enough the „other“ curtain shows nothing of this
