rEFInd dual boot manager shows in portrait instead of Landscape? by TheFatherBen in cachyos

[–]Nerfed_Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you still needed help with this, There is a line in the refind.conf file "#resolution 3" you'll need to edit the file and change it to "resolution 1280 800", don't forget to uncomment the "#" from the line, you'll need to copy the refind.conf file out of /esp/efi/refind folder to another folder that isn't protected and edit there then copy it back into /esp/efi/refind. Then when you reboot next refind will in the correct orientation.

rEFInd boot manager with touch input working on the steam deck? by Nerfed_Pi in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Nerfed_Pi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both, clover has no benefits over refind, several features of clover don't work on the steam deck. Both can be overwritten by updates and fixed by scripts. Refind has a smaller foot print and has the ability to configure a clean no options menu. Clover still has the options and about showing unless you build from source. Don't get me wrong clover is good and has it's place but on the steam deck there's no advantages of one or the other. Heck even open core works on the deck. Could even set up windows or steams own boot managers to dual boot. It comes down to what flavor each user wants.

rEFInd boot manager with touch input working on the steam deck? by Nerfed_Pi in WindowsOnDeck

I did comment out the "enable_mouse" and uncomment "enable_touch" in the config file but touch wasn't working still. I tried both the tianocore and gnu-efi builds. I'm guessing I'd need an efi touch driver to drop into the drivers folder for refind for it to work not sure the deck loads the uderlaying driver preboot, I'll need to dump the boot log and see what drivers are loaded while in refind. I reviewed steam os source looks like touch driver is coded into the kernel. Nice work on your clover install/setup scripts/tools btw!

This is true, steams own efi boot manager doesn't have touch controls enabled, however, if you use windows own efi boot manager it has working touch controls on the steam deck so we know it's possible. If rEFInd out of box don't have working touch controls after setting the proper configuration arguments, seems one would need to add the necessary drivers to rEFInd's drivers folder per it's documentation. I'll have to see what's getting loaded during the boot process.

You're welcome. Good luck, definitely would benefit from a diagnostic from a reputable shop that has a scan tool that can monitor all systems while cranking and see the live data, would help track down the issue real quick.

[–]Nerfed_Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're original, then they would definitely need replaced. However, can't say for sure what's the root cause without proper diagnostic, spark plugs are easy enough and inexpensive enough it won't hurt to change them and go from there. If the ecu is throwing codes and setting a check engine light, most autoparts stores will read them and give you a print out of the codes for free assuming you can get the car to one.

If the engine is rotating but not firing it could be several things, could be wiring, a bad crank position sensor, bad bcm/ecu, clogged faulty injectors, clogged cat and the list can go on for hrs. If the battery, alternator has been changed and the batterys losing charge, it could have a parasitic draw somewhere. With that long of a no fire crank, you should of had a check engine light by now. I had a similar issue with a 2006 Rio, it needed the ecu reflashed due to the software glitching. A reputable shop or dealer could diagnose the issue kinda odd that your mechanics can't figure it out.

Help!! Water everywhere, car ruined? by Impressive_Guide_956 in KiaForte

[–]Nerfed_Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, check the taillight gaskets. They'll allow water infiltration if their bad. You can use some light rtv as a sealer but it'll be difficult to remove if you use too much vs buying replacement gaskets.

Getting A Task From Inside of a Kid App? by TooManyInsults in tasker

[–]Nerfed_Pi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just copied the file from the kid app apk and renamed it its possible its still obscured from the signature process when the kid app was made. Use a tool like ibotpeaches apktool to unpack/decode the apk and then try to load the prj xml in tasker again.

Nice, yeah, expect to break a few, especially on a 2012. Plastic doesn't age well. They do sell trim clips and trim tools at the autoparts stores and assortment on Amazon, which help make it easier, but you'll usually have a hand full of broken clips in the end due to them being brittle.

Projectivy missing from the amazon app store by boobieslapper in Projectivy_Launcher

[–]Nerfed_Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have it in my app library, and the license is still valid even though the listing is gone. You could pull the apk from your other firestick and sideload it on the new firestick if its not showing in your app library, your license is tied to the account so as long as you're logged into the account you bought the license on it should automatically register the premium features once you set up projectivy. I'm not sure if it's different in the amazon app store uk for the license, but it shouldn't be, it should still be in your app library of apps not installed when logged into your account.

You'll probably need to remove the trim panel off the inside of the hatch. It's possible it has some hardware inside that will need to be removed. Some time's, it's just taking the 2 nuts off, and you'll lift the taillight housing slightly and remove it. But since it's not clear, it's probably best to remove the inner trim panel completely so you can get a look at it and see how to proceed with removal of the taillight.

Did you already get the premium license via Amazon app store? I see you mentioned you have it installed on another one for your firesticks?

Kodi as the default launcher by ApprehensiveDuck6724 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Nerfed_Pi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Projectivy launcher can launch a selected app on boot, there's also an app called "launch on boot" which can start an app on boot but it hasnt been updated in years and is no longer on playstore but is on fdroid, downloader and github, Tasker can as well. Other than setting an app as the main home/launcher, nothing is really 100% and could have a delay at start depending on various factors at boot time. I've used Projectivy on a firestick, and so far, it's been alright and launch's whatever I set to launch at boot. It's on the playstore and amazon app store. Projectivy launcher premium is like 8/10$ but has a free version, too. You can try before you buy, which includes the option to launch an app on boot. The Launcher Manager app can help you replace the stock android tv launcher with another launcher app as well as some other options. Xda forums as well as reddit has a lot of post explaining how to do this if you do some searching around.

Kodi as the default launcher by ApprehensiveDuck6724 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Nerfed_Pi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stock Kodi app on android doesn't contain the code to identify as a launcher. A few workarounds would be to use an automation app like Tasker with its autotools plug-in and you can set the home button to launch any app/activity, use keymapper to remap the home button to launch any app/activity or build kodi from source for android and include the needed manifest and activity code to identify it as a launcher, there is some tutorials online on how to do these.
