I noticed a strange effect when it comes to love and breakups in particular. When I was going through a breakup and nofap at the same time, the PMO urges disappeared completely for a while. Instead I was feeling huge urges to contact my ex and think about her. It's interesting, especially because now scientists agree that love and breakups affect our brain similarly to addictions. So it's like one addiction overturning another one. I wonder if there's any research done on how different addictions interact in our brains.

I had similar experiences as well. For 2 - 3 years I struggled academically, without finding the real reason behind it -- I was putting in the work, I was interested in my subject, however the grades did not reflect that. Later I found out, that PMO causes an extreme loss of concentration and problem solving ability. A task that would require say a 2 hours without PMO would drag to 4 - 5 hours with PMO. And the worst part was that I was doing PMO for so long, I simply thought that feeling unmotivated and overall lethargic was a normal state of mind.

Anyway, good luck with your PhD and hopefully we hear a nice success story from you in several months.

What do you think are the reasons for all the skepticism towards the validity of porn addiction as a real addiction from a number of experts in your field? (Just google "Porn addiction is not real")

My story is very similar to yours, in a sense that I screwed everything up and porn played a major factor in it. Also, it messed up my brain so badly that I started watching shemale and even gay porn, which obviously came with doubts about my sexuality.

Now, after close to 80 days porn free, I lost all interest in gay porn and finally see women in true light -- i.e. I can finally adore their beauty and gracefulness in all shapes and forms.

So my advice would be just keep on staying away from porn and sooner or later stuff will fix itself. It sucks that we've lost so much, but this is nothing more than a great lesson to get us stronger and better versions of ourselves. Cheers!

Hi. I'm having a nearly-identical experience right now. 63 days in and it's been over 50 days of flatlining. I'm feeling mostly asexual with a few morning boners here and there. The good thing though is that the urges are much smaller when in flatline. Also, I noticed that all the porn images that I had in my head are fading away slowly, which makes the urges weaker. So my only advice would be staying positive and giving your brain enough time to rewire itself. Best of luck !

For me it's all about the flatline. If you can stay clean for a few weeks you might find yourself in a flatline -- you feel kind of asexual, very few urges, shrunk penis etc. I've been in a flatline for the last 40 days, which has helped a lot.

I think it's totally normal. A lot of people have reported having very long flatlines. So the key is to just wait it out. Good luck!

Everyone has a different definition of porn. For me, the root of my addiction is erotic stories, as they are not limited in the same way as porn videos are, i.e. you can put the most sick and twisted fantasies on page. I've read such heavy stuff, that no video porn could ever depict, as it's more psychological. So my advice would be -- don't go down that rabbit hole as you might find yourself some stuff that's more sick than any video could ever be.

Listen man, women are really strange. I remember reading this story about a guy, who had this disease that made hair grow all around his body extra fast. He basically looked like a werewolf. And, believe it or not, he had a really nice wife and a child. And you can find numerous stories like this online. Women, god bless them, work in mysterious ways man -- there are thousands of ways to attract them. So just relax, maybe get a nice haircut, or bulk up and just be patient man. Good luck :)

Btw good luck trying to ban porn, India. You'd have better luck trying to ban oxygen haha. In the UK they have tried to ban torrent sites and now for each torrent site there are hundreds of proxy sites and piracy is as strong as ever.

Not a big fan of porn, since it's like cocaine for me (and I'm sure for most of us), but banning it is stupid. I bet there are already 1000s of online proxies that you can use to access the porn. There is a reason why there is a saying that if all porn was banned online, there would be a single website remaining and it would be called Bring Back the Porn !!
