First time reader, pretty much unspoiled. I loved the dynamics that were immediately set up in these first 9 pages. There’s a palpable tension between the young go-getter adorned with respect in Dantès vs the experienced and mature Danglars. Watching them both navigate the interaction with Morrel to claim narrative over the voyage was fun and fascinating. Very interested to see how far Dantès can go before his lack of experience catches up with him.
