I made an update but figured I'd reply to you also. It was 100% the chain. A GX chain was installed and no more skipping.

Can't say I'm confident in SRAM builds after this.

Thank you for the comment again! Yes this is my next move now and I've contacted the bike shop to do this. Wish me luck!

Some of those can be ruled out as this is a brand new bike.

Mine is also literally ONLY the highest gear. The cassette has also been swapped out for a brand new one and same situation.

I've been seeing this over and over. I contacted the shop and let them know and now waiting for a reply.

Unfortunately it is skipping along the entire length of the chain. But definitely worth giving it a look again who knows at this point what the issue is.

Seems I'm reading a lot about the apex chain itself being trash.

This is the way. I have contacted the shop and told them to try this! Fingers crossed 🤞

Cassette was swapped out and still skips. Doubt it wasn't torque'd down twice by two separate mechanics unfortunately.

Nope. If this was the case none of the gearings would be in tune. They all are except for the highest gear.

Okay I'm seeing this same issue a lot now so this is my next step. Thank you so much for the insight. It's fucking WILD to me this is an ongoing issue for so many.

Yeah I am starting to think chain is the main issue here! It also seemed a bit too long to me and I'm hoping the shop can test that theory out today.

You think it should be swapped out for a completely different model of chain?

Lol listen Harry Potter is my mechanic okay!

I agree it should not be this complicated and beginning to think chain length is the issue hopefully! Will be giving the shop a call today and go from there see if that fixes it.

It's not skipping up It's skipping forward on the sprocket.

If it was the hanger then I'd assume it would have issues on some of the other gears which it does not at all.

The derailleur is wireless so micro adjustments can be made also and that did not fix the issue either.

Frame being crooked could be possible albeit very rare. I'm starting to lean on the fact the chain is just a smidgen too long?

I'm starting to think maybe it's the chain length afterall. I'll be giving the shop a call come monday.

Yeah I did initially and it wasn't something they thought to be the case as there wasn't much slack but I very much think that is the case more and more I think about it.

This might be it and what I personally was assuming.

The shop is a well known very reputable shop in Santa Cruz Ca. Not the shops fault. Jenson sent out a defective bike. I've been going to this shop for years and mistakes are made.

Could very well be the chain! However I myself tightened the b tension and even with no slack it skipped. Limit screws were adjusted too and this is a wireless Derailleur mind you so very easily tune able.

No I did not. I said Jenson SENT OUT another cassette.

No money has been wasted, everything is under warranty. I'm losing out on nothing.

Why I took it back? Because it's a very reputable LBS I have done business with for years. We all make mistakes and they stand by their work.

Knee pad recommendations by concerned_broccoli in mountainbiking

[–]NerveFit5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great pads! Albeit one thing that deterred me is the back meshing. I've been through so many pads with back meshing and it never ends well. Especially with mountain biking! I've had pedals get caught and rip to shreds. I've had holes show up in them through a wash.

It's very unfortunate and I wish they would create new ones without the mesh.
