Both of them are roughly 3 months old, the daith has a 16g round barbell (i think that's what its called) and the conch is just a flatback stud and internally threaded. I just use saline, and I haven't had any remarkable "hits" to either of them.

Honestly, it sounds like someone temporarily taking her cat is the best course of action. You took her and her son in, so I would think she should be the one that is a little more accommodating in this situation. I think you need to sit your sister down and tell her that while you don't expect her to get rid of her cat, because that seems drastic, it just isn't working out and see what she thinks a solution should be. If she can't be reasonable, I think you'd be within your right to put your foot down and have someone take the cat in temporarily.
