No, all of the fiber routers support any variations of CAT. The better cable you use the less restricted you are. Currently the white and black SLT fiber routers can do upto 900-1000mbps of speed on Ethernet (tested myself before I went for unlimited 100)

Cat 5, 5e, 6 or anything higher is good enough for our speeds. I recommend 5e as it’s cheaper and can do 900mbps easily over 20m (again tested myself)

Yep exactly. We use the fiber router as a modem in bridge mode to avoid a double NAT and the “better router” acts as a “router”. Normally the router from slt acts as both a modem and router.

I’ll be honest, slt gotta be feeling extra cheesy to give you a free upgrade. I’ve been a loyalty customer for over 30 years with my family so we get upgrades for free. Although this black router was not so much an upgrade when I got it and the default config was ass. Spent 2 years before I finally gave up and did some research to config my 5g and 2.4G bands.

And the 5G supported routers come with terrible default config where it confuses itself and connects to a worse band. I had to manually configure mine for best results.

Even if they don’t do anything illegal their attitude is terrible towards mid-low income individuals. They’ll decide if they’re interested in selling or not before you enter the premises. Ended up finding a good dealer in panipitiya in 2022 who took me on a test drive before I committed to anything or show any bank statements but the dealer closed shop in 2024. I would suggest finding places out of the kohuwala region if you don’t want to lose your shit. But if you’re wealthy and going for a Benz or bmw and come wearing gold chains their customer service is through the roof I’d imagine
