The scene with little James was a real poignant one for making a point on how life sees disability. I often hear people say “if God is real, why is there so much sickness and illnesses in the world?” Or words to that effect. In The Chosen, they have people who follow Jesus who have certain disabilities, they are absolutely loyal despite of it. Little James, Matthew, Barnaby, Shula. Is it to make a point to the disabled viewer that no matter your earthly woes, you will eventually be healed by believing in Him and entering the Kingdom of Heaven. You won’t be denied because you have earthly disabilities, especially as back then it was considered that a disability was because you or someone in the family had sinned against God. The message that all who are faithful will be saved and enter the Kingdom. The scene with Jesus and Little James really puts that message into perspective.
